Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a Senior Application Developer for a leading federal technology program supporting a mission-critical Department of Justice initiative. This role is heavily focused on front-end development, with approximately 70% of the work dedicated to building modern user interfaces using Angular and/or React, while the remaining 30% supports backend integration efforts utilizing Java, Spring Boot, and web services. The ideal candidate will serve as a technical leader for UI modernization efforts, helping transform legacy applications into modern, scalable solutions while mentoring teammates and driving best practices. This position offers the opportunity to work on a long-term federal program, collaborate directly with government stakeholders, and contribute to secure, enterprise-scale applications operating within a classified environment. Responsibilities include:

  • Lead UI development and front-end modernization initiatives
  • Develop and maintain secure, scalable applications supporting federal mission requirements
  • Build responsive user interfaces using Angular or React
  • Integrate front-end applications with Java/Spring Boot middleware and backend services
  • Consume and develop RESTful APIs and web services
  • Collaborate with architects, cybersecurity teams, and government stakeholders
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning and technical reviews
  • Refactor legacy applications into modern, containerized solutions
  • Conduct unit and integration testing
  • Support CI/CD deployments and troubleshooting efforts
  • Resolve production and integration issues -Mentor junior developers and share best practices across the team

Skills and Requirements

  • Active Secret Clearance

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)

  • 5+ years of professional software development experience

  • Strong front-end development experience (70% of role)

  • JavaScript

  • TypeScript

  • Angular and/or React

  • Java development experience

  • Spring Boot

  • Web Services/API integration experience

  • Experience leading UI development efforts

  • Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs

  • Familiarity with Git and CI/CD tools

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in Agile environments -Ability to mentor team members and drive front-end modernization efforts

  • Experience with both Angular and React

  • Full-stack experience

  • Oracle and/or PostgreSQL

  • ColdFusion experience

  • Docker and Kubernetes

  • AWS GovCloud or Azure Government

  • Experience working in cross-domain environments

  • Knowledge of FISMA, NIST, or RMF compliance -Experience with secure coding practices and code analysis tools
