Business Development Manager - Crane, Hoist & Elevator
Department: Business Development - OEM
Location: Duluth, GA
ABOUT THE ROLE:
WEG Electric Corp. is hiring a Business Development Manager, OEM Automation - Crane, Hoist & Elevator. This person is responsible for growing business with OEMs, channel partners, and system integrators supporting lifting, material handling, and vertical transportation applications. This role focuses on delivering automation solutions that improve operational efficiency, reliability, safety, and performance for customers nationwide. Responsibilities include developing relationships with crane OEMs, hoist OEMs, elevator OEMs, panel builders, system integrators, and modernization and aftermarket service providers supporting custom, retrofit, and new installation projects. Candidates should possess industry knowledge, established customer relationships, and an understanding of crane, hoist, elevator, and material movement applications.
Candidates should reside in or near Chicago, IL, or another major airport supporting the region.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assure that sales-related goals for VFDs, soft starters, industrial controls, and UL508A panels are met.

Generate sales leads, develop sales opportunities, and close new business.

Qualify leads to identify viable opportunities and prioritize efforts.

Obtain specifications of WEG Automation products on the target customer's approved vendor list.

Visit customer sites to review technical challenges and new applications for WEG Automation products.

Identify new opportunities, technology requirements, and other customer needs to bring WEG internal experts to validate and implement new business.

Coordinate with WEG Area Managers, Territory Account Managers, and Automation Sales Engineers to gain new business.

Develop and manage assigned market Automation pipeline opportunities and work with non-direct reports to close business.

Coordinate with Product Managers, Application Engineers, and Service personnel to define custom product solutions and services needed to support converted business.

Analyze financial data and sales metrics to track progress, identify areas for improvement, and forecast future revenue.

Prepare reports and presentations to track key performance indicators (KPIs) and communicate progress to stakeholders
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering and/or in Business or similar field or equivalent relevant work experience.
EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE:

5+ years of business development, technical sales, application engineering, or account management experience in industrial automation, drives, controls, OEM manufacturing, or related industry.

Demonstrated success in developing new business and growing relationships with OEM customers.

Strong knowledge of VFDs, soft starters, industrial controls, motor control, and automation solutions.

Understanding of industrial control panels (UL508A), PLC-based systems, and systems integration.

Ability to work with engineering, operations, and procurement teams to develop and close complex opportunities.

Strong understanding of the assigned vertical market, including key OEMs, applications, buying drivers, and industry trends.

Established industry relationships within the assigned vertical market are strongly preferred.
Preferred Experience:

Experience working with or selling to crane, hoist, elevator, or lifting equipment manufacturers.

Familiarity with motion control, drives, and lifting applications.
