Job Description
This long-term opportunity seeks an experienced Audio Visual Project Manager who will serve as an AV Site Supervisor/Project Manager on a large-scale commercial construction project. You will oversee the day-to-day execution of the audio visual scope in the field, ensuring all work is completed safely, accurately, and on schedule. This role combines hands-on technical AV installation expertise with strong project management capabilities, requiring you to lead technicians, coordinate with subcontractors and other trades, and maintain high standards of quality and performance throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities
-
Oversee daily execution of the audio visual scope on a large commercial construction project from the field.
-
Coordinate AV-related activities with subcontractors, vendors, other trades, and project stakeholders to ensure smooth and efficient workflows.
-
Manage project manpower and workload, including assigning tasks, monitoring progress, and adjusting resources as needed.
-
Develop, review, and maintain project schedules for AV installation activities, ensuring work is completed according to agreed timelines.
-
Perform regular visual and quality inspections of AV installations to verify that work meets technical specifications and industry standards.
-
Read and interpret blueprints and schematics to guide installation work and ensure accurate implementation of the AV design.
-
Communicate clearly with subcontractors and technicians to coordinate work on the AV side and resolve any conflicts or issues in the field.
-
Troubleshoot installation issues and technical problems with AV systems, providing guidance and solutions to the team.
-
Step in hands-on to support technicians with installation tasks when needed, including training and mentoring team members.
-
Oversee construction-related aspects of AV work, ensuring proper integration with other building systems and trades.
-
Monitor and verify cable pathways and routing to maintain organized, efficient, and compliant infrastructure.
-
Ensure proper testing and verification of installed AV systems, confirming that all devices and connections function as intended.
-
Review and approve final device installation and system connections, ensuring the project is ready for turnover and use.
Essential Skills
-
Proven experience in audio visual field installation within commercial environments, particularly on large-scale construction projects.
-
Strong project management skills with the ability to oversee AV scope, manage manpower, and coordinate schedules in the field.
-
Hands-on expertise with commercial speaker and paging systems, including installation and configuration.
-
Technical proficiency with audio visual equipment, displays, and related hardware used in commercial projects.
-
Ability to read, understand, and work from blueprints and schematics to guide AV installation work.
-
Experience with structured cabling and low-voltage cabling for AV and related systems.
-
Skill in cable pathway planning and routing to ensure efficient and organized infrastructure.
-
Proficiency in cable pulling, dressing, labeling, and termination according to industry best practices.
-
Experience building and configuring equipment racks and associated hardware for AV systems.
-
Knowledge of network-connected AV equipment and how it integrates within broader IT and building networks.
-
Ability to perform thorough testing and verification of installed AV systems to ensure proper performance.
-
Competence in device installation and final system connections, including attention to detail and adherence to specifications.
-
Strong communication skills for coordinating with subcontractors, vendors, and other trades on-site.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
-
Field experience in the audio visual industry, with a preference for candidates who have worked extensively on-site rather than solely in office-based roles.
-
Background in construction management or project coordination within commercial construction environments.
-
Experience conducting visual inspections and quality checks on AV installations.
-
Ability to train, mentor, and support AV technicians in both technical and procedural aspects of their work.
-
Comfort working in dynamic construction settings where priorities and schedules may shift.
-
Detail-oriented approach to documentation, labeling, and verification of installed systems.
Why Work Here?
Join a long-term project environment where your hands-on expertise and leadership are valued and trusted. You will work in a setting that encourages ownership of the AV scope, offers the opportunity to shape high-impact commercial installations, and supports collaboration across multiple trades and stakeholders. This role provides meaningful field-based responsibilities, the chance to mentor and develop technical teams, and the satisfaction of seeing complex audio visual systems come to life from concept through completion.
Work Environment
This role is primarily field-based on a large-scale commercial construction site, rather than a desk-only office position. You will spend most of your time on-site, working closely with technicians, subcontractors, and other trades to oversee the installation of audio visual systems. The environment involves active construction conditions, including exposure to typical jobsite noise and movement, and requires adherence to standard safety practices and site protocols. You will work with a range of AV technologies and equipment, including commercial speakers and paging systems, displays, structured and low-voltage cabling, cable pathways, equipment racks, and network-connected AV devices. Work hours follow typical construction schedules and may require flexibility to meet project milestones and coordinate with other trades.
