Summary

This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Applications will NOT be accepted through this flyer. Interested applicants should review the "How to Apply" section of this flyer for more information on how to be considered. This flyer will be used as positions become available. There may or may not be actual vacancies filled from this flyer.

Duties

  • Direct the efficient operation, maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of shipboard propulsion systems, engines, generators, hydraulic motors and pumps, auxiliary machinery, and vessel support systems.
  • Conduct periodic inspections; diagnose equipment malfunctions; and direct or perform corrective maintenance and repairs ranging from minor repairs to complete overhauls.
  • Plan, schedule, assign, and oversee engine-department work; establish priorities and deadlines; review completed work; and provide technical direction and training to employees.
  • Develop recommendations for mechanical and electrical repairs and overhauls, and evaluate contractor-performed repair work.

Qualifications

This is a Direct Hiring Authority for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifications: https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/federal-wage-system-qualifications/#url=Job-Elements Selective Placement Factors: Must hold a valid U.S. Coast Guard license for Chief Engineer (limited-near coastal or higher) of Motor Vessels of 3,000 Hp or higher. Must possess and maintain compliant with Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW). Must possess Transportation Worker Identification Credentials (TWIC). All the above Selective Placement Factors validation must be included with application packet or you will be disqualified.

This announcement uses the Certain Personnel of DoD Workforce direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service.
