The Nevada Community School District is looking for a Fall Play Assistant Director to begin ASAP at Nevada High School! (fall play rehearsals begin 9/14/2026). Almost immediate availability will be essential to selecting a successful candidate.
Job Title:Fall Play Assistant Director
Reports To:NHS Drama Director
Position Summary:
The Fall Play Assistant Director supports the Director in the planning, rehearsal, and production of the mainstage fall play. This role has a particular focus on mentoring and leading the Freshman One Act play, providing first-year students with a positive, skill-building introduction to high school theatre.
Key Responsibilities:

Assist the Director with all aspects of the main fall production, including rehearsals, blocking, and coordination with technical crew.

Serve as the primary director for the Freshman One Act play, focusing on rehearsals and performance preparation.

Provide mentorship and guidance to freshman cast and crew members, helping them develop foundational skills in acting, stage presence, and ensemble work.

Collaborate with the Director to ensure consistency between the One Act and the larger fall production in terms of theme, tone, and expectations.

Attend all scheduled rehearsals, production meetings, and performances.

Communicate regularly with students, parents, and production team members.

Help create a supportive, inclusive, and disciplined environment for all students involved in the production.
Qualifications:
-
Experience in theater performance or directing desired, especially at the high school level.

Strong leadership and communication skills.

Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
-
Enthusiasm for mentoring young performers, especially first-year students.

Organizational skills and a commitment to meeting deadlines and rehearsal schedules.
Time Commitment:
August 25th - November 5th (rehearsal and production season)
