Description

Under direction, assists with the implementation of EHS programs as necessary to ensure regulatory compliance and positive movement against EHS KPIs. Works with EHS colleagues and business partners to implement programs in California site operations (Freestanding Stores, Retail Partners, Offices, DC, 3PL).

Participates as a member conducting internal audits. Assists with follow up and closure of actions items from audits.

Conducts surveys of site operations and provides detailed recommendations for hazard elimination or control.

Supports development and delivery of required EHS training. Update training in response to new legal requirements or changes; helps ensure training is relevant.

Reviews information sources for new and/or changes to existing relevant laws, rules and regulations, and notifies management as appropriate.

Participates in EHS regulatory inquiries and inspections, including Transportation of Dangerous Goods, with support and supervision.

Provides technical expertise to ELC management and/or advises EHS colleagues in EHS areas to ensure compliance with regulations and the implementation of programs targeted towards the prevention of injuries and the reduction of our environmental footprint.

Maintains competency and stays current in the profession of EHS and the Transportation of Dangerous Goods.

Monitors regulatory and industry trends to identify risks and opportunities and develop strategies to ready the sites and embrace innovation.

Drives consistency in procedures and practices and a continuous improvement mindset through the on-going identification and implementation of best practices.
Qualifications

Experience in retail operations is preferred
-
Simple project management skills to establish and ensure adherence to budgets, schedules, project timelines, etc. is required
-
Knowledge, education, and/or experience in EHS programs with a focus on injury and illness prevention, transportation of dangerous goods, hazardous waste, recycling, and energy conservation

Solid presentation, technical and written communication skills. Ability to adjust communication style based on the situation and the audience.

Ability to understand and communicate technical information to key stakeholders

Self-motivation, self-management, ingenuity, and ability to drive best practice thinking is required

Working conditions will vary and may include: warehouse, distribution, retail store/counter locations and offices/training facilities.

Candidate must have a valid driver’s license and be able to travel via multiple modes of transportation in various settings.

Candidate must be able to lift and transport their personal luggage & equipment as needed.

Psychological and cognitive demands of the role may include: complex problem solving, working at times under pressure or fast pace, traveling/driving, reading comprehension, calculations and writing.

Capable of global travel without visa restriction.
This role is based in California and will have a special focus and responsibility for California to ensure compliance with applicable state and local laws (e.g. DOH, CalOSHA, CUPA).
