Summary

This job opportunity is for an EQUIPMENT SPECIALIST, position description D1257000, within the SMMO of the New Jersey National Guard. This vacancy announcement is a Title 32, Excepted Service position. The purpose of this position is to provide instruction and assistance to state unit personnel regarding Army National Guard (ARNG) equipment and maintenance management.

Duties

As an EQUIPMENT SPECIALIST, GS-1670-9, you will: Serve as a recognized authority on the repair and operation of various types of ARNG equipment. Provide instruction and assistance regarding equipment maintenance procedures, techniques, and methods as a part of the Maintenance Assistance and Instruction Team (MAIT). Provide advice, assistance, and guidance regarding maintenance management systems, material readiness programs, cost reduction programs, and maintenance shop practices in maintenance facilities. Evaluate directives to ensure adherence to standard methods, conformity in maintenance procedures, and the proper use of maintenance equipment, facilities, and personnel. Requirements

Employment ends unless certified in writing that it advances the agencies interest. Title 32 Dual-Status Positions: Military Grade: Min: E-4/SrA/SPC and Max:WARRANT OFFICER 1/ WO1 Applicant(s) (Enlisted) who are over grade must clearly state, in their resumes, their intentions to willingly take a reduction in grade Title 32 Dual-Status Positions: Compatible Military Assignments Appointments may require the selected candidate to be assigned to a military unit compatible with the full-time Military Technician (Dual Status) position. Military Unit -- The unit by which the individual is employed as a Military Technician (Dual Status) employee; or a unit that the individual is employed as a Military Technician (Dual Status) employee to support. General Experience: Knowledge of standard shop terminology Mechanical principles relating to equipment Ability to read and interpret blue prints and technical publications Repairing, overhauling, maintaining, constructing, or inspecting equipment Using computer and automation systems Specialized Experience: Must have 24 months of the following experience(s): Applying principles, concepts, and methods of equipment design Using tools and test equipment Developing, installing, inspecting or revising equipment maintenance programs and techniques
