Job Summary This position is a Full-Time 36hrs/week in the OR , 12hrs shift, rotating schedule 7am to 730pm / 8-830p
Position Summary
The Operating Room (OR) Registered Nurse functions as both a Circulating Nurse and Scrub Nurse, providing safe, high-quality perioperative nursing care to patients undergoing surgical and procedural interventions. The RN collaborates with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes while maintaining a sterile environment and adherence to established clinical standards.
Essential Responsibilities Circulating Nurse Responsibilities Perform comprehensive preoperative patient assessments and verify patient identity, surgical procedure, and consent. Coordinate and manage nursing care throughout the perioperative experience. Ensure availability and functionality of required equipment, supplies, and instruments. Maintain patient safety through adherence to infection prevention, regulatory, and safety standards. Conduct and document surgical counts in collaboration with the scrub person. Monitor the sterile field and address any breaks in sterile technique. Advocate for patient safety and comfort throughout the surgical procedure. Communicate effectively with surgeons, anesthesia personnel, and other healthcare team members. Accurately document patient care, intraoperative events, and outcomes in the electronic medical record. Scrub Nurse Responsibilities Prepare and maintain the sterile field for surgical procedures. Anticipate surgeon needs and provide instruments, supplies, and equipment efficiently. Perform instrument, sponge, and sharps counts according to organizational policy. Ensure proper handling and labeling of specimens. Maintain aseptic technique throughout the procedure. Assist with positioning, skin preparation, draping, and wound care as appropriate. Identify and report equipment malfunctions or safety concerns. Support efficient room turnover and preparation for subsequent cases. Clinical Competencies Knowledge of perioperative nursing principles and AORN standards. Ability to scrub and circulate a variety of surgical specialties. Strong critical thinking, prioritization, and clinical decision-making skills. Ability to recognize and respond to changes in patient condition. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. Proficiency with electronic medical record systems and perioperative documentation.
Qualifications
Education Associate's Degree Nursing required or Bachelor's Degree Nursing preferred

Licenses and Credentials Registered Nurse [RN - State License] - Generic - HR Only required
Experience Clinical nursing experience 0-1 year required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Familiarity with the principles and skills needed for practical nursing to provide patient care and treatment.
- Knowledgeable of the care required by respective age groups for which care is being provided.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and secure sensitive information.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Excellent verbal and communication skills.
- Ability to accurately screen and triage acute patients.
