Full job description

MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Mobile Forensics Software Engineer to join our team in Herndon, VA . In this role you will support mobile device and application analysis, software development, reverse engineering, and technical reporting in support of digital forensics and cyber mission requirements.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Performing mobile device and application analysis to identify, extract, interpret, and document digital artifacts relevant to forensic and investigative objectives

  • Analyzing, reviewing, and reverse engineering software, applications, and binaries of interest to understand behavior, vulnerabilities, and technical characteristics

  • Designing, developing, testing, debugging, and maintaining software tools that support mobile forensics, data analysis, and technical exploitation workflows

  • Conducting static and dynamic analysis using debuggers, disassemblers, virtual environments, and related engineering or forensic tools to assess application behavior and support mission outcomes

  • Producing clear technical reports, documentation, and presentations suitable for technical and non-technical audiences

  • Collaborating with engineers, analysts, and mission stakeholders to define technical requirements, improve analytic methods, and transition solutions into operational use

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or similar technical field or High School Diploma and 6+ years of relevant experience.

  • 3+ years of professional experience in software engineering, reverse engineering, digital forensics, mobile analysis, or a related technical field

  • Experience developing software in Python, C++ or Java used for analysis tooling or systems development

  • Experience analyzing software or applications using debugging, reverse engineering, or forensic methodologies

  • Familiarity with operating system internals, file systems, application behavior, or low-level software analysis concepts

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with creating technical documentation and clearly communicate findings to varied audiences

  • Experience with mobile device forensics, mobile operating systems, mobile application analysis, or mobile data extraction and interpretation

  • Experience with static and dynamic analysis tools such as disassemblers, debuggers, hex editors, virtual machines, packet capture tools, or similar technologies

  • Experience supporting incident response, malware analysis, computer forensics, or follow-on analysis to build historical or predictive understanding of cyber events

  • Experience developing custom scripts, automation, or software tools to improve forensic workflows and analytic efficiency

  • Experience leveraging AI tools or AI-assisted workflows to improve code development efficiency, accelerate debugging, enhance code quality, or streamline software engineering tasks

Clearance Requirements: Active/current Secret clearance with ability to obtain a TS/SCI with polygraph

Physical Requirements: Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%
