The Business and Information Services division (BIS) is looking for a Software Engineer to join their team. This is a level 1 position and you will work closely with senior engineers, gaining hands-on experience and valuable mentorship as you contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of innovative software applications. This position is ideal for recent graduates who are eager to build a strong foundation and grow their careers in a supportive and fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design and development of software applications.

  • Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code.

  • Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback.

  • Debug and resolve basic software issues.

  • Collaborate with team members to understand project requirements and deliver solutions.

Position Requirements

  • PT1: Minimum of a completed Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and 0+ years of experience, or equivalent

  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, C++)

  • Basic knowledge of databases (e.g. SQL Server, Oracle) and SQL

  • Basic understanding of software development methodologies

  • Strong problem-solving skills and eagerness to learn

  • Ability to model Argonne's core values of impact, safety, respect, integrity and teamwork

  • To perform the essential functions of this position successful applicants must provide proof of U.S. citizenship, which is required to comply with federal regulations and contract

The expected hiring range for this position is $57,764.00 - $93,600.00.
