Description
We are looking for a Controller to join a growing industrial company in Sumter, South Carolina. This newly established leadership role is ideal for an experienced accounting specialist who enjoys balancing day-to-day financial oversight with building stronger processes and reporting capabilities. The person in this position will work closely with ownership and operational leaders to provide clear financial insight, support sound decision-making, and help prepare the organization for continued expansion.
Responsibilities:

Direct the full accounting function, including ledger activity, payables, receivables, cash oversight, account reconciliations, and the monthly close process.

Design and refine financial procedures, internal controls, and accounting workflows to improve accuracy, consistency, and long-term scalability.

Produce clear and timely financial statements, management reports, and analytical insights for ownership and department leadership.

Enhance project-based accounting through stronger job costing, budget tracking, forecasting, and cash flow planning.

Collaborate with operational teams and business leaders to increase financial transparency and strengthen accountability across departments.

Recognize accounting and business challenges early, then present practical recommendations that support informed leadership decisions.

Assess accounting tools and technology, implementing process improvements that better support a growing organization.

Guide, mentor, and expand the accounting team while fostering a hands-on, high-accountability environment.
Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline is preferred.

At least 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including prior responsibility in a Controller or senior-level accounting leadership role.

Background in construction, industrial, manufacturing, engineering, or another project-driven business environment is strongly preferred.

Strong working knowledge of the complete accounting cycle, including month-end close and financial reporting.

Proven ability to establish and improve accounting processes, procedures, and internal control structures.

Advanced Excel skills and experience using accounting software, including QuickBooks.

Analytical, proactive, and solution-focused approach with the ability to move between strategic leadership and hands-on execution.
