The DeKalb County School District is seeking an experienced and professional Manager I, Facilities

Title: Manager I, Facilities Position Summary Maintains accountability for actions that impact multiple departments. Oversees the maintenance and operations of multiple facilities, ensuring they remain safe, clean, and well-maintained while managing budgets and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. Provides administrative supervision and support to team members, participates in the development of policies and procedures, and oversees the department's budget management. Essential Job Duties

Leads operations in alignment with the District's strategic plan; supervises, evaluates, schedules, and assigns work to personnel using the District's performance management instrument and recommends overtime assignments as needed based on available budget.

Supervises assigned trades personnel, including carpenters, plumbers, electricians, glaziers, Plant Engineers, General Maintenance Workers, and other assigned trades; coordinates professional development training for Plant Engineers and Trade Technicians.

Leads and manages budgeting and financial processes in compliance with Board policies and regulations; allocates resources and maintains sufficient inventories of supplies, equipment, and assets needed to support specialized trades and life cycle replacement schedules.

Manages work orders and service requests from schools; communicates and coordinates work plans with building-level leadership and ensures assigned work is completed, documented, and closed out in a timely manner.

Oversees District-wide inspections of school buildings and monitors preventive maintenance activities to ensure operational readiness and life safety; follows up on overdue or incomplete preventive maintenance work.

Utilizes the District's Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to monitor work orders, preventive maintenance activities, documentation, completion status, and service trends to identify recurring facility issues and opportunities for improvement.

Monitors assigned maintenance projects and vendor work for schedule, quality, completion, and proper documentation; ensures assigned vendors operate under the direct supervision of District staff.

Collaborates with Operations, General Maintenance, Maintenance, Safety, Capital Improvements, and school personnel on projects and facility-related issues; maintains communication with school personnel to enhance customer satisfaction.

Responds to and manages District-wide emergencies during inclement weather, weekends, and after hours and maintains on-call availability 24/7/365.

Prepares detailed reports on operations, progress, and strategic planning initiatives for supervisors and stakeholders.

Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

• General knowledge and experience with MEP, life safety and building maintenance best practices required.

Associates or Bachelor's degree from an approved accredited college or university preferred.

Minimum five (5) years of supervisory level work experience in facilities management preferred.

Minimum ten (10) years of extensive work experience in technical/professional level facility maintenance preferred.

ProFM and/or BOC certification preferred.

Valid driver's license required.
