Full job description
Summary
You will serve as a Materials Examiner and Identifier (FLO) of NAVSUP FLT LOGISTICS CNTR SAN DIEGO.
Duties
- You will perform technical screening for a wide range of Depot Level Repairable (DLR) material, i.e. shipboard, squadrons, ground support, avionics and various other DLR equipment/components.
- You will perform data entry/processing for the disposition of the material through using automated systems to produce stock receipts, transshipments, disposals, packing, shipment and all pertinent document preparation actions.
- You will conduct research to answer inquiries and clear exceptions/errors generated from programs, systems, documentation preparations/actions, etc.
- You will perform chemical tests employing appropriate safety measures.
- You will be familiar with a wide range of materials and equipment as well as numerous procedures, required for product and equipment verification and have in-depth knowledge of depot warehousing and disposal procedures and plans.
- You will be able to interpret complex equipment and subjective materials specifications when examining, identifying, and verifying incoming and outgoing materials.
Qualifications
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Knowledge of all materials used in a given line of work. Examples include: Selecting proper material for each particular purpose. Knowledge of special properties, treatments needed, etc., of materials used. 2. Practices required by jobs where things must be kept, neat, clean, and in order. In addition to ability to keeping things neat, clean, and in order, this usually includes one or more of the following: Accuracy in checking, counting, verifying, sorting. Keeping records, logs, inventories, etc.; making reports. Ability to use arithmetic: add, subtract, multiply, divide, etc. Knowledge of storage, treatment, care. Knowledge of handling. Knowledge of loading. Ability to meet a time schedule, deadline, or emergency. 3. Ability to accept or reject items for conformance with requirements and to work productively in an inspection program. 4. Ability to teach procedures, principles, and knowledge related to trade and craft practices. 5. The ability to facilitate production using judgment and analysis in areas such as determining work time, preparing and implementing procedures, detecting bottlenecks, making and interpreting reports, keeping records, interpreting technical data, and making computations. 6. Ability to lead other workers or supervise subordinates; deal objectively and harmoniously with them; and render sound decisions. I am considered an expert or I am consulted by other employees in difficult situations.
