Job Responsibilities/Duties

Hanford Tank Waste Operations & Closure (H2C) delivers exceptional performance in safely removing, treating, and disposing of tank waste. H2C leads the nation's largest and most complex radioactive waste cleanup, including closure of the legacy waste tanks at Hanford containing 56 million gallons of radioactive and chemical waste.

H2C seeks a Radiological Control Technician (RCT) Supervisor for the Mission Support Operations Group, who will promote a positive, safety-conscious, and collaborative work environment consistent with the H2C mission, vision, and values, based upon openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.

The RCT Supervisor, under general managerial oversight, supports planning and directly supervises RCT's in the safe execution of radiological work activities.

Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to the following:

Implementing Integrated Safety Management System (ISMS), Voluntary Protection Program (VPP), and Environmental Management System (EMS) responsibilities in assigned area(s) of responsibility.

Supports the as low as reasonably achievable (ALARA) program.

Provides leadership for ensuring the requisite level of conduct of operations, safety management program implementation, and radiological compliance in the planning and execution of these activities.

Plans/executes multiple, complex field activities with a demonstrated record of successful schedule execution.

Conducts pre-job briefings, enhanced work planning meetings and lessons learned.

Conducts management observations and assessments for safety, RadCon and procedural compliance.

Resolves work and safety issues to permit safe and efficient performance of work in the field.

Interfaces and coordinates with Field Crew Management and craft personnel.

Implements Hanford Atomic Metal Trades Council (HAMTC) contract and complies with WRPS policies and procedures.

Provides effective progressive performance management of employee issues; responds to employee issues, concerns, and resolves, to the extent practicable, bargaining unit grievance issues.

Ensures Integrated Safety Management System (ISMS) Principles are incorporated into organization's activities, and completes other duties as assigned by RadCon Management.

Required Qualifications

Grade 18:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; and

  • Five (5) years of related experience required.

Grade 19:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; and

  • Seven (7) years of related experience, with at least one (1) year in a supervisory capacity required.

Note the essential duties for this grade level are like that of the previous grade level, however the scope of responsibility is significantly larger, and the expected level of performance is greatly increased.

Desired Qualifications

  • National Registry of Radiation Protection Technologists (NRRPT) certification

  • RadCon oversight experience in the execution of High-Risk radiological work activities in Department of Energy (DOE) complex

  • Specific knowledge and Tank Farm field experience with retrieval operations

Compensation & Benefits

In accordance with the company's philosophy on compensation for exempt and salaried non-exempt employees, H2C takes into consideration a variety of factors when determining initial grade and salary to include assigned job scope and responsibility, a candidate's qualifications as compared to internal comparators performing in a similar role, and the external labor market. A salary offer will be made at the appropriate grade level and within the targeted hiring range posted according to these factors. Note a candidate's prior salary history will not be taken into consideration.

Hiring Range Minimum: $109,013

Hiring Range Maximum: $151,038
