Full job description

Our client is seeking a Hardware Engineer to join their team. As a Hardware Engineer, you will be part of the R&D team supporting product implementation and next-generation sensing and monitoring solutions for industrial and utility applications. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical ownership, collaborative communication, and a drive to deliver robust, field-ready hardware platforms which will align successfully in the organization.

Job Title: Hardware Engineer

Location: Fairport, NY (Onsite)

Pay Range: 40-42 W2

What's the Job?

  • Support guidance into the full product implementation cycle, including requirements analysis, high-level and detailed design (including PCBA layout), implementation, testing, integration, documentation, compliance certification, and introduction to production in coordination with the architecture team.

  • Collaborate with a multi-functional team including hardware architecture, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, logistics engineering, product and program management, and other groups as needed.

  • Support advanced technology initiatives to develop next-generation sensors, sensing platforms, and improvements in products sustaining activities.

  • Contribute to firmware-hardware co-design and debugging of embedded systems to ensure reliable performance in real-world conditions.

  • Help ensure designs meet compliance expectations (EMC, safety) by supporting compliance testing and product certification processes.

What's Needed?

  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar.

  • 3+ years of experience in hardware design for embedded systems.

  • Proficiency in analog and digital circuit design, including low-noise signal paths and power management.

  • Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus RTU/TCP, LoRa, RS-485) with experience integrating into new and existing hardware platforms.

  • Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout tools (Altium Designer preferred), plus familiarity with sensor integration (temperature, humidity, pressure, optical sensors).

What's in it for me?

  • Opportunity to work on pivotal R&D efforts that shape next-generation sensing and monitoring solutions.

  • Hands-on involvement across the product lifecycle—from requirements and design through testing, integration, documentation, and production introduction.

  • Collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver hardware that performs reliably in industrial and utility environments.

  • Engagement with modern embedded development practices, including Agile and Scrum.

  • Clear focus on robust, field-ready hardware platforms and continuous product improvement.
