Overview

Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC) is seeking a Process Controls Engineer - Simulator System Integration , to be based in our Aiken, SC location on the Savannah River Site.

The Process Controls Engineer (Simulator System Integration) is responsible for the process control Operator Training System including process control system performance and technical assurance for assigned projects. They enable plant operators and training personnel to complete offline operator training via an automated control system, and utilize process control and plant operations modeling software to support offline training efforts. Systems / products utilized include the Emerson DeltaV Distributed Control System (DCS) software / hardware, GSE Solutions’ JPro software, and Configuration Management tools. They work with and utilize work processes in support of Training / Operations and in accordance with Engineering standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and/or participate on project teams supporting software automation efforts with technical analysis, design, integration, and implementation issues throughout the project life-cycle

  • Understand, develop, and implement project schedules while identifying key project milestones

  • Define work scopes and lead efforts to implement activities

  • Lead and document technical troubleshooting and corrective measure implementation for Emerson DeltaV and GSE Solutions’ JPro systems

  • Review and understand modifications to process control and operator training systems

  • Documents, tests, maintains, and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions

  • Configure, implement, and test software automation for process control system design modifications for implementation on Operator Training Systems

  • Develop and implement operator training system models, control strategies, and standards to improve operational productivity and efficiency

  • Maintain and update documentation on system software changes and process updates

  • Participate in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation for the process control and operator training systems

  • Provide technical presentations highlighting key activities, new automation technologies, and/or process improvement plans

  • Ensure DCS / Operator Training System hardware, software, and related procedures adhere to organizational procedures and approved configuration baselines

  • Provide input and technical review of software requirements specifications, software design documents and code reviews

  • Tests, documents, operates and maintains software and firmware components and computing systems software

  • Plays active role in development / execution of programmatic improvements

  • Provide system health and legacy system monitoring

  • Work effectively in teams as well as independently

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering or similar engineering field from an accredited college or university

Preferred Qualifications

  • Process control system and instrumentation experience

  • Experience with DeltaV DCS as an Application Programmer, System Administrator and/or System Engineer

  • Experience with GSE Systems’ JPro or JADE process modeling / simulation products

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Minimum Pay

USD $62,000.00/Yr.

Maximum Pay

USD $112,000.00/Yr.
