City/State Charlottesville, VA Work Shift First (Days) Overview: Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is hiring a Registered Dietitian Diabetes and Nutrition Education Specialist! This is a full time, day shift position in Charlottesville, VA.

Hours: Monday to Friday- Business hours

Overview Plans and coordinates education and care of patients/persons with diabetes across a continuum in collaboration with other disciplines, community agencies and Sentara subsidiaries. Provides staff education, educates/counsels patients to promote wellness and prevention of complications in persons with diabetes. Serves as a clinical resource person for the clinical staff serving the inpatient and/or outpatient population.

Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is a DEAP accredited facility. The Diabetes and Nutrition Educator can expect between 6 and 10 patients per day. A mix of inpatient and outpatient and cross training for coverage for both areas is expected. This role will support the DEAP program accreditation

Education

  • BLD required

  • Bachelor's Degree Dietetics highly preferred

  • If Bachelor's Degree is in major other than Dietetics, must complete an Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) accredited Didactic Program in Dietetics.

  • MSN preferred

Certification/Licensure

  • Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) required within 2.5 years of hire.

  • Registered Dietician (RD) - Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) Required

Experience

  • CDECS highly preferred

  • 2 years of experience in diabetes education preferred

  • Previous experience in acute inpatient and outpatient settings preferred

  • Experience supporting accreditation preferred

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay range for full-time employment is $83,865.60 - $124,508.80 annually. Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities. Compensation within the range may vary based on qualifications, experience, location, market conditions, and business needs.
