About The Harris County Community Supervision and Corrections Department (CSCD): The Harris County Community Supervision and Corrections Department (CSCD) is one of the largest probation departments in the United States, supervising more than 70,000 individuals and employing over 600 staff members across 6 locations. We provide a wide range of services including community supervision, outpatient counseling, cognitive-behavioral programming, and residential treatment, designed to strengthen our clients’ abilities and support their long-term success. With a focus on utilizing evidence-based practices, we aim to improve outcomes and reduce recidivism for all clients under supervision.

Position Overview: To support the operations of the Department by providing assistance in the completion of duties that do not require CSO Certification.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • May perform any of the following duties; Greet clients, staff, and community partners in a courteous manner. Monitor and maintain [email protected] mailbox and respond to requests for assistance/services in a professional and timely manner. Monitor Community Resources Division phone bank and relay messages to appropriate personnel promptly. Follow up communication with client/staff to ensure referral forms are completed thoroughly and accurately. Support clients in accessing community resources and post-secondary opportunities. Operates computer systems used to check in clients. Follow up/follow through and enter outcomes in case management systems of clients referred to employers, community organizations and other agencies for additional resources and services. Performs case work which does not require CSO certification. Facilitate communication between clients and the Community Resources Manager and Coordinator. Exercised privileged communication as related to the position and maintains expertise in the operations, functions, and scope of the department. Testifies in Court, when required, as to the procedures followed while performing any assigned duty. Reviews information in Case Management System (CMS). Maintains and updates information into the Program CSS Database Works overtime as required. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Two (2) years of education at an institution of Higher Learning (Minimum 48 hours semester credit or equivalent at Community College or University).

OR

  • Two (2) years of substantive work in the criminal justice industry.
  • Must demonstrate experience in application of case management principals

OR

  • Six (6) months of employment with a Texas Community Supervision and Corrections Department

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Thorough knowledge of current office practices and procedures. Good working knowledge of current computer functions and procedures.

  • Must have good oral and written communication skills.

  • Must be eligible for access to TCIC system.

Licensure:

  • Valid Texas Drivers’ License.

  • Experience working in a reentry program or with justice-involved individuals.

Position Type and Typical Hours of Work:

  • Regular Full-time

  • Hours will be discussed during departmental interview.

Salary:

  • $3,602.39 Monthly - $4,008.79 Monthly ($23.13 Hourly)

  • Depends on Qualifications

  • Based on 26 Pay Periods

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an office setting.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls, and to reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand, talk, observe and hear. Able to lift heavy files, up to 25-30 pounds.

Reporting Relationships:• Reports To Position: Supervisor or designated personnel.

Employment is contingent upon passing a background check and drug screen.
