Full job description

Our client is seeking an experienced engineer to support their Database Activity Monitoring (DAM) program, with a strong focus on IBM Guardium. This role will be responsible for engineering solutions across database security, automation, certifications, patching, upgrades, provisioning, and reporting.

Job Title: Database Security Engineer | Guardium, Python Automation, Database Activity Monitoring

Location: Plano, TX; Charlotte, NC; Jersey City, NJ (Hybrid: minimum of 3 days per week)

What's the Job?

  • Support the Guardium product within a Database Activity Monitoring workstream by managing design, software certifications, and process automation across database security areas such as activity monitoring, access management, and encryption.

  • Engineer solutions for provisioning, patching, and version upgrades, ensuring reliable delivery of database security capabilities.

  • Build and enhance reporting workflows that translate security and activity monitoring data into actionable visibility.

  • Automate operational processes using Python and scripting to improve consistency, reduce manual effort, and strengthen security operations.

  • Collaborate with teams using tools such as JIRA and Horizon to track work, coordinate changes, and support continuous improvement.

What's Needed?

  • Hands-on experience with Python, Unix/KSH shell scripting, and PowerShell.

  • Hands-on experience with Oracle or MSSQL or other RDBMS platforms.

  • Hands-on experience with product certifications and process automation related to database security and monitoring.

  • Experience with emerging databases such as CockroachDB, Cassandra, and Postgres.

  • Experience with cloud-based databases (AWS or Azure) and familiarity with GitHub Copilot and prompt engineering.
