Summary

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Serves as the Director, Safety Management Office for the United States Army Medical Command and the Army Surgeon General.

Duties

  • Develops broad command policies, procedures, and guidelines as they apply to medical readiness.
  • Develops, implements and oversees action plans to correct deficiencies and improve outcomes.
  • Reviews and analyzes safety and occupational health data to assess the effectiveness of the safety and occupational health program.
  • Evaluates the broad and varied command accident, injury and illness prevention and safety program through establishment and implementation of risk assessments.
  • Evaluates the qualifications and competencies of all safety and occupational health professionals to provide recommendations for necessary training and education.
  • Provides consultation and advice to major subordinate commands on safety and occupational health program management.
  • Represents the command on technical committees developing general plans and procedures for carrying out research and experimental projects.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) developing broad command policies, procedures, and guidelines as they apply to medical readiness, medical system acquisition, and medical logistics; 2) reviewing and analyzing safety and occupational health data to assess the effectiveness of the safety and occupational health program; AND 3) providing consultation and advice on safety and occupational health program management. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

This is a(n) Career Field position 12 Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement.
