Job Description
The Project Manager provides strategic leadership and end-to-end oversight for a portfolio of capital design and construction projects across facilities in the Houston market. Acting as the owner's representative, this role is responsible for leading projects from planning through completion, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives while delivering exceptional results in quality, schedule, and budget performance.
Projects primarily consist of healthcare facility renovations, infrastructure upgrades, equipment replacements, and capital improvement initiatives. Examples include operating room renovations, cath lab upgrades, MRI, CT, X-ray and linear accelerator replacements, hybrid room buildouts, MEP infrastructure upgrades, plumbing and air handling system improvements, and other facility modernization initiatives. While most projects involve equipment replacement and infrastructure improvements, opportunities may also arise to support large-scale capital projects valued in the hundreds of millions of dollars.
The Project Manager will support hospitals across the South Houston, Texas Medical Center, and East Houston markets and will be responsible for managing multiple projects simultaneously while partnering closely with hospital leadership, consultants, contractors, and operational stakeholders.
Hourly range is $60-70/HR and based upon experience.
Skills and Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Business, or a related field; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Minimum 5+ years of project management experience leading design and construction projects. Experience developing project scopes, schedules, and budgets. Experience facilitating project meetings, stakeholder presentations, and project communications. Knowledge of construction processes, building systems, building codes, and life safety regulations. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while balancing competing priorities. Strong financial acumen, including budget management, forecasting, cost control, cash flow management, and spend tracking. Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and stakeholder management skills. Ability to independently manage 5-6 concurrent projects in various phases of delivery.
Travel & Work Environment Remote-based position supporting CommonSpirit Health facilities throughout the Houston market. Candidates should reside within approximately 1-2 hours of Houston, Texas. Regular travel to project sites within the South Houston, Texas Medical Center, and East Houston service areas is required. Typical expectation is a minimum of 2 days per week onsite, with some project phases requiring 3-4 days per week onsite. Mileage reimbursement is provided for approved business travel between project sites. Up to 50% travel may be required based on project needs and portfolio assignments. Strong experience with MEP systems, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and related infrastructure projects. Experience managing healthcare, hospital, or other complex occupied-facility construction projects strongly preferred. Experience serving as an owner's representative on capital construction projects. Experience coordinating subcontractors, contractors, consultants, and vendors through project delivery. Familiarity with renovation, infrastructure, equipment replacement, and facility modernization projects. Experience using Bluebeam for document review, markups, and coordination. Experience with Procore or other construction project management platforms is a plus. Candidates from healthcare, commercial, aviation, institutional, or other complex construction environments will be considered.
