Job Description

Position Summary:

The Graduate Program in Public Health at CSU, which is part of the collaborative Colorado School of Public Health, seeks applications throughout the year from individuals who are interested in obtaining temporary teaching positions within the program. The program provides instruction to graduate students. These temporary positions may include teaching only one course or possibly more. Applicants to this pool are used to fill gaps in department curriculum and instruction. Not all applicants will be contacted regarding a teaching opportunity.

Instructors should be dedicated to supporting students, supporting the vision and mission of the ColoradoSPH , and upholding CSU’s Land-Grant Mission (https://www.colostate.edu/land-grant/) .

We are specifically seeking applicants who are able to teach courses related to the following topics:

  • Built Environment

  • Chronic disease

  • Communicable disease

  • Community health

  • Community health organization

  • Emergency/Disaster preparedness

  • Epidemiology

  • Environmental health

  • Global health

  • Health communication

  • Health systems, management and policy

  • Infectious disease and/or zoonotic disease

  • International health

  • Mental health

  • One health

  • Physical activity

  • Prevention and health promotion

  • Public health leadership

  • SAS/SPSS/R/STATA use and data management for public health data

  • Wellness

  • Other topics relevant to the field of public health.

Description of Work Unit:

Founded in 1870, Colorado State University is among the nation’s leading research universities and enrolls approximately 32,000 undergraduate, graduate, and professional students. Located an hour north of the Denver metro area, Fort Collins is a vibrant community of approximately 157,000 residents that offers the convenience of a small town with all the amenities of a large city. Fort Collins is situated on the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains with views of 14,000 foot peaks, and offers access to numerous cultural, recreational, and outdoor opportunities.

The Graduate Program in Public Health (GPPH) at Colorado State University (CSU) is a part of the Colorado School of Public Health (ColoradoSPH). ColoradoSPH is a collaborative school including three academic institutions, over 200 faculty, and over 500 students across three campuses. The CSU campus currently offers a Master of Public Health in 6 specialty areas, a certificate program, and has approximately 100 graduate students, and over 70 faculty across CSU with appointments in the ColoradoSPH.

Salary Range:

$5,000 - $8,000 per course

Essential Job Duties:

Instruction and Evaluation of Public Health Course Material.

Conditions of Employment:

Pre-employment criminal background check (required for new hires).

Supervision:

Position will be supervised by Director of the Graduate Program in Public Health SAU.

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants for Instructor positions must hold a minimum of a Master’s Degree in public health or other related field and at least 3 years of professional public health experience, OR have a doctoral degree in public health or other related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

It is highly desirable that individuals have a doctoral degree in a public health related discipline and previous experience in teaching or training.
