Health Information Clerk - per diem

Rate of Pay:$16.10 per hour

Schedule:Weekdays, per diem (less than 30 hours per week)

Work Location:May be eligible for a remote/hybrid work arrangement after completion of training, at the manager's discretion

About the Position

Are you organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with confidential information? Join our team as aHealth Information Clerkand play an important role in keeping accurate, complete, and timely patient records.

The primary focus of this position istranscribing provider progress notes and other patient-related documentation, ensuring that important clinical information is accurately entered and maintained in the electronic medical record (EMR). You'll also support the Health Information and Quality teams with medical records, Release of Information requests, data entry, and other activities that help ensure the accuracy, privacy, and compliance of patient information.

What You'll Do

  • Transcribe provider documentationand other patient-related information accurately and efficiently.

  • Maintain accurate medical recordsby scanning, uploading, organizing, and entering patient information into the EMR.

  • Review medical records for accuracy and completenessand identify information that may need correction or follow-up.

  • Process Release of Information requestsin accordance with agency policies and applicable state and federal requirements.

  • Prepare patient and provider correspondenceand other documentation as needed.

  • Review and assist with resolving EMR claim-related issuesin coordination with the Billing Department.

  • Conduct assigned record and compliance reviewsusing established forms and review tools.

  • Protect patient privacy and confidentialityand follow HIPAA requirements and agency policies.

  • Provide occasional support to the front desk, including greeting patients, answering phones, and assisting with communications, as needed.

  • Participate in required training, meetings, and agency activities.

Requirements

What We're Looking For

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.

  • Ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when working with sensitive patient information.

Preferred:

  • One year of medical office or healthcare experience.

  • Experience working with an electronic medical record (EMR).

  • Experience with medical transcription or clinical documentation.

What You'll Need to Be Successful

The right person for this role isdetail-oriented, dependable, organized, and comfortable spending much of the workday on a computer. Accuracy matters here. You'll need to be able to recognize inconsistencies, follow established processes, protect confidential information, and stay focused when working with detailed patient documentation.

This position involves extended periods of sitting and computer use, frequent keyboarding, and occasional lifting and carrying of materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
