POSITION SUMMARY

The purpose of this position is to support the Extrusion department with process troubleshooting, developing the skill sets of the Team Leads and Operators, improve training procedures, and help with continuous improvement projects focused on scrap and downtime.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Safety

  • ·Follows plant safety procedures and guidelines

  • ·Know emergency procedures and what to do in the event of power outages, machine failures, workplace injuries, etc.

  • ·Wears and utilizes personal protective equipment (PPE) as required

  • ·Understand and identifies Lock-out/Tag-out procedures

  • Informs Supervisor of safety issues; reports any workplace injury or incident immediately

  • Tasks

  • ·Support company Food Safety efforts through commitment and compliance to SQF standard practices and policies.

  • ·Follow plant quality practices including Good Manufacturing Practices, or GMP’s

  • ·Troubleshoot daily process issues in Extrusion.

  • ·Overhaul Extruders and equipment as required by schedule and process to conform to quality standard

  • ·Train and Support Production for Production change over

  • ·Conduct and assist testing for new material and/or process

  • ·Improve the overall skill set of the Team Leads and Operators in Extrusion-Repro-Compound through detailed training.

  • ·Participate/Lead in Continuous Improvement Events/Teams in Extrusion with a focus on improving quality/output and reducing scrap and downtime.

  • Advice/Lead line/equipment maintenance and improvement including process/operation improvement

QUALIFICATIONS

  • ·Willingness to work and follow verbal/written instructions

  • ·Good Written and Verbal Communication Skills

  • ·Must be able to read, write and speak English

  • High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate)

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently exposed to extreme heat, moving mechanical parts and products with sharp edges. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
