Full job description

Special Education Teacher — 1.0 FTE, Probationary Location: Pashley Elementary School

The Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Central School District is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Special Education Teacher to join our team at Pashley Elementary School. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE), probationary position for a New York State–certified educator who is passionate about supporting the success of all learners.

The ideal candidate will inspire and engage students with disabilities, foster a love of learning, and collaborate with colleagues to create a supportive, inclusive, and enriching educational environment.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Implementing and creating IEPs (Individual Education Programs)

  • Assessing students’ strengths, needs, and abilities to inform instruction

  • Developing and implementing lesson plans aligned to individual learning goals

  • Collaborating with general education teachers, social workers, counselors, psychologists, and other professionals to support student achievement

  • Coordinating paraprofessional staff in implementing instructional and behavioral support plans

  • Monitoring student progress and adjusting instructional strategies as needed

  • Communicating regularly and effectively with families regarding student progress and needs

  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date student records and documentation

  • Participating in ongoing professional development to remain current with best practices in special education

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education (required)

  • Valid New York State Special Education Teaching Certification

  • Experience working with students with disabilities preferred

  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills

  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and culturally responsive learning environment
