Full job description
At Commure, we're building the AI Operating System for healthcare, the foundation that defines how care is delivered, documented, and financed. Our platform spans the full care journey: Ambient AI and Dictation eliminating documentation burden at the point of care, intelligent Agents automating patient and revenue workflows, and autonomous RCM processing billions in claims, all on a single AI-native platform integrated with 60+ EHRs.
Healthcare carries a $1 trillion administrative burden and we're at the center of transforming it. Today, 500,000+ clinicians across 500+ healthcare organizations nationwide trust Commure to handle $25B+ in annual claims and support over 200 million patient interactions. Our latest $70M raise at a $7B valuation reflects the confidence the market has placed in this mission. We've also been named to the Fortune Future 50 list and the 2026 AI Breakthrough Awards for “Overall NLP Company of the Year.”
Our team works directly alongside clinicians, not through layers of process, which means the gap between what you build and its impact on patient care is immediate. We move fast, deploy daily, and take full ownership from early thinking to production. If you're energized by hard problems, high stakes, and a team that holds itself to a high bar, you'll find your people here.
The future of healthcare is being built right now. Come deliver this transformation.
About the Role We're looking for early career Software Engineers to join our engineering team. You'll work alongside experienced engineers across backend, frontend, mobile, and infrastructure, while owning meaningful production systems and product features from the beginning. This is a role for someone who wants to learn quickly, take on significant responsibility, and build systems used by clinicians every day. Team placement will vary, but examples could include: AI & Agents: Build an AI-powered workflow that helps healthcare teams automate repetitive administrative work. Clinical: Develop features that help clinicians spend less time documenting and more time with patients. Revenue Cycle Management: Build software that helps healthcare practices automate billing workflows and improve their financial operations. Platform & Infrastructure: Improve the reliability, observability, or scalability of services supporting thousands of healthcare organizations. Product Engineering: Build end-to-end features across React, APIs, backend services, and databases that are used by healthcare providers every day.
What You’ll Do
-
Building product features across our web, mobile, and backend applications, including offline-first experiences for healthcare professionals
-
Developing reliable APIs and backend services that support high-volume clinical workflows
-
Building data processing pipelines for handling complex, high-volume healthcare data
-
Building and improving AI systems: inference pipelines, orchestration (fallbacks, retries, async workflows), and quality evaluation infrastructure
-
Improving monitoring, observability, alerting, debugging, and overall application performance, reliability, and stability
-
Designing internal tools that make engineers faster and production systems easier to operate
-
Working directly with product, design, clinical, and customer-facing teams to understand real-world problems and ship solutions
What You Have
-
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, graduating recently or within the upcoming academic year
-
Strong fundamentals in algorithms, data structures, operating systems, databases, networking, or distributed systems
-
Experience building software through internships, research, open-source projects, coursework, startups, or personal projects—ideally something substantial outside of coursework
-
Ability to write clean, understandable, and maintainable code
-
Strong debugging and problem-solving skills, especially across multiple layers of a system
-
Curiosity about how complex systems work beyond the component you are directly working on
-
Care about reliability and performance, not just getting a feature to work once
-
High ownership—you care about whether the thing you built actually works for users in production
-
Willingness to learn unfamiliar technologies and move quickly
-
Prefer ownership and autonomy over narrowly scoped tickets
-
Want to work close to users and see the impact of your work quickly
-
Strong communication and ability to work closely with engineers and non-engineers
Our Technical Environment You may work with technologies including:
-
Languages & Frameworks: Python, TypeScript, Dart, Swift, Kotlin, Flutter, React, and native mobile platforms
-
Infrastructure & Data: PostgreSQL, Redis, cloud object storage, Kubernetes, containers, distributed queues, and data processing pipelines
-
AI Systems: LLM inference and orchestration pipelines, AI evaluation infrastructure
-
Observability & Testing: Monitoring, logging, tracing, production observability, and automated testing
