Reliability and Quality Engineer – Warewash Division – Troy, OH

Illinois Tool Works (ITW) is a Fortune 200 company that produces diversified products in global markets. Some of its products include welding equipment, automotive components, construction materials and commercial food equipment. The Food Equipment Group is one of seven ITW decentralized business segments. Reporting to the Sr. Manager of Quality and Customer Support, the

Reliability and Quality Engineer works in the Warewash Division at its Troy, Ohio, facility located 20 minutes north of the Dayton. The Warewash Business Division produces Hobart, Stero and Somat branded commercial dishwashers, waste equipment and disposers used in hotels, retail, restaurants, cruise ships, schools, universities, and other environments. We are the industry leader and seeking to expand our growth in existing served markets as well as new markets. We are in search of a Reliability and Quality Engineer to help support and grow the FEG Warewash business through improvements in design, processes, and procedures.

Summary of What you Will Do:

As the Reliability and Quality Engineer you will provide detailed quality planning for new product development projects and existing products to assure conformance of engineering and marketing specifications and quality management systems. This position will evaluate field performance data, conduct reliability testing, and use problem solving skills to improve product quality and uptime. You will recommend improvements in designs, processes, and procedures to assure quality from development to production. Your responsibilities will include agency compliance, FMEA’s (failure mode effect analysis) and DVP&R (design verification plan and report), root cause analysis investigations, and customer escalation support. This position works in a lab, field, and office setting, and involves hands-on testing and teardown of machines, as well as office work including data collection and interpretation, presentation of data and solutions, and participation on project teams.

What we are looking for:

  • Quality control experience in a product development environment

  • Ability to interact with customers and build relationships through issue resolution

  • Provide guidance to service technicians to successfully repair products in the field

  • Reliability testing experience

  • Brings energy and drive to challenges while maintaining a positive, results-oriented mindset

  • Agency compliance experience

  • Product development experience working in manufacturing

  • Fabrication and/or design/drafting experience

  • Working with suppliers on product requirements.

  • Passion for continuous improvement through root cause analysis and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to execute projects within specified timelines

  • Knowledge of product quality improvement processes

  • An individual to support the Quality Management Systems

  • Advanced data analysis skills

  • Must be detailed oriented, organized, and proactive

Education and experience:

  • BS Degree in Quality, Engineering or Operations Management

  • 3-5 years of quality or manufacturing engineering experience

  • Preferred experience reading/creating technical drawings and documents

  • Requires effective written, verbal and presentation skills

  • MS Office application proficiency
