Full job description

Job Title: Packer - $17/hr - 1st and 2nd Shift!

1st shift (Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m. with a 1-hour lunch) or 2nd shift (Monday–Friday, 3:00 p.m.–11:00 p.m. with a 30-minute lunch).

Responsibilities

  • Package finished products according to company specifications and customer requirements.

  • Inspect products for defects, damage, or packaging discrepancies prior to shipment.

  • Apply labels, lot numbers, expiration dates, and other required product information accurately.

  • Assemble packaging materials, boxes, and shipping containers to prepare items for distribution.

  • Verify product counts and ensure all packing documentation is complete and accurate.

  • Maintain a clean, organized work area in accordance with safety and quality guidelines.

  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and company policies at all times.

  • Report quality concerns, equipment issues, or inventory shortages promptly to supervisors.

  • Assist with inventory counts and basic material handling tasks as needed.

  • Support other production and warehouse activities as assigned to meet operational needs.

Essential Skills

  • At least 6 months of manufacturing or production experience.

  • Ability to perform packing, production, packaging, and general labor tasks reliably.

  • Ability to read and write at least 60% in English to understand labels, instructions, and documentation.

  • Strong attention to detail when inspecting products and applying labels, lot numbers, and expiration dates.

  • Ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and safety guidelines.

  • Capability to work on your feet and handle repetitive tasks in a production environment.

  • Basic counting and documentation skills to verify product quantities and complete packing records accurately.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous packaging experience is a plus.

  • Experience working under GMP standards is preferred.

  • Comfort working in a cooler, clean facility environment.

  • Reliability and punctuality for consistent shift work.

  • Ability to collaborate with production and warehouse team members.

Work Environment

The role is based in a clean facility that is kept a bit cooler for product quality and safety. Work is performed on 1st shift (Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m. with a 1-hour lunch) or 2nd shift (Monday–Friday, 3:00 p.m.–11:00 p.m. with a 30-minute lunch). You follow strict hygiene and safety standards, including wearing a hairnet, mask, gloves, and booties while on the production floor. The dress code requires a long-sleeve shirt provided by the company, pants, and close-toed shoes. For safety and product integrity, certain personal items are restricted, including acrylic nails and fake eyelashes, while a wedding ring is permitted. The environment emphasizes cleanliness, organization, and adherence to manufacturing best practices.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wheeling, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
