Job Description

A healthcare client is looking for a Mainframe DB2 DBA to sit fully remote. The Senior Db2 for z/OS DBA / Precisely Connect CDC Engineer will support and administer CDC replication solutions that move data from IBM Db2 for z/OS environments to cloud and distributed platforms. This individual will be responsible for ensuring reliable, secure, and efficient transaction-log-based data replication while partnering with database, application, and platform engineering teams.

Skills and Requirements

Strong experience administering IBM Db2 for z/OS in enterprise production environments. Hands-on experience with Precisely Connect CDC (formerly SQData), including configuration, monitoring, administration, and troubleshooting. Expertise with CDC architecture and transaction-log-based replication, including source/target configuration, capture, publisher, storage, distribution, and apply processing. Experience supporting Db2 z/OS as a CDC source and managing replication configurations through table, schema, and DDL changes. Strong understanding of Db2 for z/OS logging, transaction processing, commit/rollback behavior, and their impact on replication. Ability to troubleshoot replication issues including latency, failed or missing transactions, connectivity issues, data consistency problems, and source/target synchronization failures. Experience identifying and resolving issues across the entire CDC lifecycle, including source Db2, CDC capture, transport/publisher, and target/apply components. Experience integrating mainframe data with cloud-based platforms. Knowledge of CDC restart and recovery processes. Experience supporting large-scale enterprise data replication environments. Exposure to mainframe security and infrastructure best practices.
