NICET Technician

Job Description

The inspector is responsible for scheduling and conducting inspections for fire alarm, fire suppression systems, and fire extinguishers. This role involves coordinating with local fire departments to ensure tests do not prompt unnecessary responses, developing and completing NFPA testing documents, and providing repair services or coordinating with the Service Department as needed. Inspectors must provide clients with detailed results of tests and inspections and adhere strictly to company safety policies.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule inspections for fire alarm, fire suppression systems, and fire extinguishers.

  • Conduct tests and inspections on fire alarm and fire suppression systems.

  • Coordinate with the local fire department to prevent unnecessary response to testing.

  • Adhere to company safety policies and procedures.

  • Develop and complete NFPA testing documents for clients.

  • Repair systems if necessary or inform the Service Department of customer needs.

  • Advise customers of test and inspection results.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

  • Fire inspection and fire alarm system expertise.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Valid drivers license and a clean driving record.

  • Ability to pass a background check and drug test.

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous experience in fire alarm, security system, or low-voltage installations preferred.

  • Knowledge of wiring, networking, and electrical systems preferred.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents preferred.

  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

  • Industry certifications such as NICET (minimum NICET 2 required; NICET 3-4 preferred), ESA, or manufacturer-specific training.

Work Environment

This role requires physical endurance as candidates must be able to lift up to 75 lbs and work in confined spaces such as attics and crawl spaces. The position operates Monday through Friday from 7 am to 4:30 pm, with potential for overtime and on-call work. Candidates should be prepared for regular travel to neighboring islands and should be comfortable operating equipment like boom lifts up to 70 feet.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Honolulu, HI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $50.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
