The primary purpose of this position is: To serve as a security clerk assigned to Pass & Registration of the Plans & Programs Section and to process various security related documentation including requests for issuance of Contractor Access Badges and Restricted Area Badges, as well as other documents to include Defense Biometric Identification System cards and passes

Duties

Performs and enforces Pass and Registration duties; processes and issues Defense Biometrics Identification cards (DBIDS), contractor access badges, restricted area badges (RAB's) and temporary passes to eligible personnel Performs and enforces the full range of identity proofing, vetting and fitness determinations for installation access Maintains controlled forms. Maintains control logs for identification cards and contractor access badges and foreign visits for maintenance and destruction of accountable forms in accordance with applicable AF instructions. Carries out routine, miscellaneous clerical tasks. Performs clerical support duties to ensure efficient office operations Provides general customer service. Focuses on responsive and accurate customer service within the Pass & Registration/Visitors Center environment Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, for Clerical and Administrative Positions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicant must have one year of general experience. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates my ability to acquire the particular knowledge of a body of standardized security rules, regulations, directives, and procedures to perform a full range of standard personnel security assignments such as supporting and processing a variety of standard personnel security actions, ID cards, vehicle permits, restricted area badges, or other forms of authorization; screening investigation requests to determine which need to be referred to a specialist; extracting information from reports; and providing basic information about personnel security programs. OR EDUCATION: Applicant must have successfully completed two years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. NOTE: You must submit a copy of transcripts OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position if the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. NOTE: You must submit a copy of transcripts KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of security processes, and procedures and knowledge of general office clerical functions 2. Knowledge of personnel security clearances and investigation processes and the procedures, forms, and information required to verify against authorization documents, issue badges, passes, vehicle permits, or other forms of authorization 3. Knowledge of one or more automated databases associated with a specific security function to recognize, locate, and insert data/information; support office and security operations; and produce a variety of documents and reports 4. Ability to plan and organize work, follow instructions, guide others and accomplish multiple ongoing projects 5. Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of individuals, using a high degree of tact and diplomacy. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
