Full job description

Description

If you like numbers but REALLY want to understand the story behind them, keep reading.

A high-growth North County organization is looking for a Financial Analyst to join its finance team and help turn financial data into information leadership can actually use.

This role is perfect for someone who enjoys digging into the numbers, asking “why did this change?”, and connecting financial results to what's happening throughout the business. Rather than spending your entire day focused on traditional accounting transactions, you'll work across FP& A, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, variance analysis, and business performance.

You'll partner with Finance, Accounting, Sales, and Operations, giving you exposure to multiple areas of the business and plenty of opportunity to grow.

What you'll be doing:

  • Prepare monthly financial reporting packages and management reports.

  • Analyze actual results against budget, forecast, and prior-year performance.

  • Investigate revenue, expense, gross margin, and operating expense variances.

  • Assist with annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting.

  • Build and maintain financial models used for business planning.

  • Track departmental spending and identify significant trends.

  • Develop recurring KPI dashboards and reporting packages.

  • Partner with operational leaders to understand financial performance.

  • Assist with revenue and expense forecasting.

  • Support month-end analysis, accrual review, and financial reporting.

  • Prepare ad hoc analysis for senior leadership.

  • Translate complex financial information into clear business takeaways.

  • Identify opportunities to improve reporting processes, data accuracy, and efficiency.

  • Assist with special projects involving pricing, profitability, headcount, and operational performance.

Requirements

  • 2–5 years of experience in financial analysis, FP& A, accounting, or business analysis.

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business preferred.

  • Strong Excel skills and comfort working with large datasets.

  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial reporting.

  • Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail.

  • Ability to communicate financial information to non-finance partners.

  • Experience with ERP, financial planning, BI, or reporting systems is a plus.

  • Someone who is naturally curious and doesn't stop at simply reporting the number.

The opportunity:

This is a great role for a Senior Staff Accountant, Junior Financial Analyst, or Financial Analyst who wants to move further into FP& A and business partnership.

You'll get exposure to leadership, learn how financial decisions are made, and work on projects that go beyond the traditional accounting function.

If you're the person who sees a spreadsheet and immediately starts looking for the trend, the variance, and the reason behind the number — this is worth a conversation.
