Health System Specialist (Physical Evaluation Board Liaison Officer (PEBLO))

Summary

About the Position: You will be assigned directly to McDonald Army Health Center (MCAHC), located at Joint Base Langley-Eustis (JBLE) in Fort Eustis, Virginia. Located within Integrated Disability Evaluation System (IDES) Department. You will work alongside military medical providers, physical evaluation board coordinators, and VA military services coordinators to keep transition timelines as efficient as possible. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce.

Duties

• Counsel military personnel from all branches of the uniformed services, retirees, and the Families of those being processed through the Physical Disability Evaluation System (PDES) on their rights, benefits, privileges, or obligations.
• Coordinate evaluation appointments; schedules follow-up appointments for National Guard and Reserve Component (RC) personnel for approved line of duty (LOD) related injuries.
• Assist in preparing appeals, rebuttals, and coordinates the assignment of Soldier's legal counsel.
• Assists in other benefits such as vocational rehabilitation, clothing allowance, aid and attendance, prosthetics and appliances, and aid for the blind.
• Make entries and updates the appropriate databases as cases progress through the Physical Disability Evaluation System (PDES).
• Assist the Soldiers to understand the process and guide them through their medical board.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education/experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing administrative support within a healthcare delivery system; evaluating medical information to support case processing; counseling military service members on benefits and entitlements and managing data entries in automated systems to generate accurate reports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
