The recruitment is exempt from the hiring freeze (Administrative Order 358)
This recruitment is open to Alaska Residents only. Applicants must meet Alaska Residency Requirements in order to be considered for employment at this time.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING: You will be responsible for maintaining various support programs enabling essential public safety communications systems serving state, local, federal and Department of Defense first responders. This includes developing and maintaining budget documentation for planned, projected, and executed programs and projects. You will also oversee administrative support staff functions and procurement activities supporting the time-sensitive work of the engineering and operations teams as they operate and maintain our $200-plus million public safety communications systems.
THE WORKING CONDITIONS YOU CAN EXPECT: The primary work environment is an office setting supporting the team and receiving customers, or at your home when situational telework is authorized.

Equivalent to those typically gained by: Training from an accredited college or university in any field and/or progressively responsible professional experience developing, planning, coordinating, and implementing a program, project, business, organization, or major components of a program, including having administrative authority over the program/project funding, staff, and/or overall operations.
Special Note: “Competencies” means a combination of interrelated knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors that enable a person to act effectively in a job or situation.
“Typically gained by” means the prevalent, usual method of gaining the competencies expected for entry into the job.
“Training” and “education” are synonyms for the process of acquiring knowledge and skills through instruction. It includes instruction through formal and informal methods (such as classroom, on-line, self-study, and on-the-job), from accredited and unaccredited sources, and long-duration (such as a post-secondary degree) and short-duration (such as a seminar) programs.
“Professional experience” means work that is creative, analytical, evaluative, and interpretive; requires a range and depth of specialized knowledge of the profession's principles, concepts, theories, and practices; and is performed with the power or right to decide or act according to one's own judgment.
“Progressively responsible” means indicating growth and/or advancement in complexity, difficulty, or level of responsibility.
