Job Title: 1st Shift Quality Assurance Analyst (Float Role)Job Description

The 1st Shift Quality Assurance Analyst (Float Role) ensures that products consistently meet the highest standards of quality and safety in alignment with industry regulations and internal policies. This role supports multiple areas of the facility, performing audits, inspections, and testing to verify compliance with GMP, SQF, HACCP, FDA, and state regulations. The analyst plays a key role in maintaining food safety programs, verifying documentation, and partnering with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement and uphold a strong quality culture.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine quality assurance and quality control activities across designated production areas during 1st shift as a float resource.

  • Conduct inspections and case audits to verify product quality, labeling accuracy, and adherence to specifications and standards.

  • Verify Certificates of Analysis (COAs) for incoming materials and finished products to ensure they meet defined quality and safety requirements.

  • Execute microbiological testing and environmental monitoring activities to assess product and facility hygiene conditions.

  • Support and maintain compliance with GMP, SQF, HACCP, FDA, and applicable state regulations through daily oversight and documentation.

  • Monitor and verify critical control points within HACCP plans to ensure food safety controls function effectively.

  • Review batch records and related quality documentation for completeness, accuracy, and regulatory compliance.

  • Conduct self-inspections, internal audits, and mock recalls to test the effectiveness of quality and food safety systems.

  • Participate in root cause analysis for quality and food safety issues, and help implement corrective and preventive actions.

  • Collaborate closely with operations, sanitation, maintenance, and other teams to resolve quality concerns and improve processes.

  • Document quality findings, deviations, and inspection results clearly and accurately in accordance with company procedures.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance product quality, food safety, and overall compliance.

  • Assist in maintaining and updating quality and food safety documentation, including procedures, records, and audit reports.

  • Be available to provide quality support during audits or food safety emergencies, including occasional overtime and weekend coverage when needed.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in quality assurance and quality control within a regulated manufacturing or food production environment.

  • Working knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and their application in daily operations.

  • Hands-on experience with inspection and quality analysis activities in a production or laboratory setting.

  • Practical understanding of HACCP principles, including monitoring and verification of critical control points.

  • Familiarity with SQF, FDA, and state regulatory requirements related to food safety and quality.

  • Experience with microbiological testing and environmental monitoring in a lab or production environment.

  • Ability to perform batch record review and verify quality documentation for completeness and accuracy.

  • Skill in root cause analysis and problem-solving for quality and food safety issues.

  • Background in biology, food science, or related scientific discipline.

  • 15 years of experience with a degree in the sciences, or 5+ years of experience in quality within a GMP/FDA facility.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures and protocols.

  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with operations, sanitation, maintenance, and other teams.

  • Ability to work 1st shift with availability between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., typically around 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Degree in a scientific field such as biology, food science, or a related discipline.

  • Experience working in a GMP/FDA-regulated facility, particularly in food or related industries.

  • Familiarity with food safety programs, including HACCP and SQF, and their documentation requirements.

  • Experience conducting mock recalls, self-inspections, and internal audits.

  • Comfort working in both laboratory and production floor environments.

  • Flexibility to support occasional overtime and weekend work for audits or food safety-related events.

  • Strong organizational skills to manage documentation, records, and multiple quality tasks.

  • Ability to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality and food safety.

Work Environment

This is a 1st shift float role with availability needed between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., with typical working hours around 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The standard schedule runs Tuesday through Saturday. The role involves working in both laboratory and production floor environments within a GMP/FDA-regulated food facility. Occasional overtime and weekend work may be required, particularly during audits or food safety emergencies, and the position requires flexibility to support these needs. The environment emphasizes strict adherence to food safety, sanitation, and quality protocols, with regular interaction with operations, sanitation, and maintenance teams.

This is a Permanent position based out of Oak Creek, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $68000.00 - $83000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a direct placement opportunity. The benefits will be provided upon start of assignment or earlier if requested by candidate.
