POSITION SUMMARY CVS Health is seeking a visionary Lead Director, AI FinOps to establish and lead the enterprise-wide AI FinOps capability at one of the nation's largest and most innovative healthcare organizations. This highly visible senior individual contributor role offers a rare opportunity to define a new strategic discipline that will govern how AI investments are planned, measured, financed, and optimized across the enterprise. As CVS Health accelerates adoption of generative AI, machine learning, and intelligent automation, the Lead Director, AI FinOps will create the financial and operational framework necessary to support sustainable innovation at scale. The Lead Director, AI FinOps will design and implement the strategy, operating model, governance structure, and financial management practices that provide comprehensive visibility into AI spending and value realization. This leader will establish the methodologies, metrics, and decision frameworks required to assess the economics of AI initiatives, enabling the organization to make informed investment decisions across foundation models, model tuning, inference workloads, AI platforms, and emerging AI technologies operating across cloud and on-premises environments.
Serving as a strategic bridge between Technology and Finance, the Lead Director, AI FinOps will partner with Engineering, Product, Architecture, Finance, Procurement, and Executive Leadership to bring greater transparency and accountability to AI investments. The role requires translating complex consumption patterns, model utilization trends, and infrastructure costs into actionable business insights that support resource allocation, prioritization, forecasting, and long-range investment planning. Beyond cost management, the Lead Director, AI FinOps will help define how CVS Health measures the business value of AI. This includes developing enterprise frameworks that connect technology investments to operational outcomes, productivity gains, customer impact, and strategic business objectives. Through data-driven analysis and executive advisory leadership, this individual will enable the organization to maximize return on AI investments while maintaining appropriate governance, scalability, and financial discipline.
As the enterprise authority on AI economics, the Lead Director, AI FinOps will influence senior leadership decisions regarding AI adoption, platform strategy, vendor optimization, capacity planning, and portfolio management. This role will play a critical part in shaping the future of AI at CVS Health by ensuring that investments are aligned with business priorities and supported by a sustainable financial model that balances innovation, growth, risk management, and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in AI platforms, cloud economics, technology financial management, and enterprise-scale operating models, combined with the ability to influence across organizational boundaries. This is an exceptional opportunity for a forward-thinking leader to build a foundational enterprise capability, establish best-in-class AI financial governance, and directly impact how CVS Health scales and realizes value from its AI transformation journey.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

-
Partner cross-functionally with Engineering, Procurement, and Finance leadership to drive continuous AI spend optimization, identifying and executing on savings opportunities without compromising model performance or business outcomes.
-
Establish and lead an AI FinOps Center of Excellence (CoE), defining roles, processes, and scalable governance policies; serve as the internal subject matter expert and evangelist for AI financial accountability across the enterprise.

-
2+ years of experience in AI cost governance, including cost attribution, forecasting, financial controls, and optimization for AI model training, fine-tuning, inference workloads, and AI platform services.
-
2+ years of experience implementing chargeback and showback models that accurately and audibly allocate AI spend across business units, products, or teams, and 2+ years of experience delivering executive-level financial insights by translating complex AI cost drivers into decision-ready recommendations for senior leadership.
-
