Join our Team - Budget Administrator 1

The Budget Administrator 1 serves as the Budget Office's Financial Information Manager. This position is responsible for directing, coordinating, and overseeing the Department's financial information management, financial analysis, executive reporting, business intelligence, and fiscal decision-support functions.

Eight years of experience in budget development or analysis, accounting, auditing, policy planning, procurement, contracts or grants management, project management, statistical analysis, or financial services; OR

Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus five years of experience in budget development or analysis, accounting, auditing, policy planning, procurement, contracts or grants management, project management, statistical analysis, or financial services; OR

A bachelor’s degree plus five years of experience in budget development or analysis, accounting, auditing, policy planning, procurement, contracts or grants management, project management, statistical analysis, or financial services; OR

An advanced degree in business administration, accounting, finance, public administration, or statistics plus four years of experience in budget development or analysis, accounting, auditing, policy planning, procurement, contracts or grants management, project management, statistical analysis, or financial services.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field. Job Duties:• Directs the preparation and distribution of recurring and ad hoc financial reports, executive briefings, dashboards fiscal summaries, and decision -support materials.

  • Establishes reporting priorities, standards, schedules definitions, and quality - assurance requirements for departmental budget information.
  • Ensures the accuracy, consistency, completeness, and timely delivery of financial information presented to executive leadership and external oversight.
  • Ensures financial reports clearly identify material assumptions, limitations, risks and data- quality concerns.
  • Develops or oversees the development of fiscal projections, forecasting models, scenario analyses, grant and variance analyses.
  • Promotes consistent interpretation and use of budget and financial information throughout the Department.
  • Identifies training and professional-development needs and coordinates appropriate learning opportunities.
  • Performs other related duties and special assignments as required in support of Budget Office operations and departmental priorities.

Position-Specific Details:Appointment Type: Probational, Promotional, or Job Appointment. This position may be filled as a probational appointment or a job appointment that may last up to 48 months. Job appointments may convert to probational appointments. Also, it may be filled as a detail and promoted within 12 months or by promotion of a permanent classified employee. Works Schedule: Typically, work hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday. Flexible work schedules are available after meeting certain criteria and is dependent upon the position you are applying for. Some positions require working shifts.

Louisiana HB 420 requires all prospective DCFS employees to complete and clear multiple background clearances prior to employment with this agency.
