Job Title: Buyer/Planner; Job Code: SC213
Department: Supply Chain
Reports To: Supply Chain Manager
Job Type: Full Time; Exempt
Location: Tinley Park, IL; 100% onsite
Position Summary:
The Buyer/Planner is responsible for planning production builds to align with sales forecasts and procuring materials required to support manufacturing operations while maintaining optimal inventory levels. This role ensures that materials are available to meet production schedules, customer delivery requirements, and inventory objectives. The Buyer/Planner works closely with Production, Engineering, Quality, Receiving, and Suppliers to support continuous improvement, supplier performance, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:

Responsible for processing orders and reacting to demand changes through ERP system.

Develop new lower cost global sources and other cost reduction opportunities.

Negotiate benchmarks and manage supplier agreements.

Develop and maintain production schedules based on customer demand, inventory levels, and manufacturing capacity.

Monitor production progress and adjust schedules to minimize shortages and maximize on-time delivery.

Maintain accurate purchasing records, supplier documentation, and ERP data.

Proactively identify and mitigate supply risks, including extended lead times, allocation challenges, obsolescence concerns, and supplier constraints.

Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities.

Review inventory levels, support inventory reduction plans.

Travel to supplier sites to support audits, on boarding and resolve critical issues.
Desired Characteristics:
-
Minimum of 3 to 5 years' progressive purchasing experience.

Strong technical knowledge related to electronics manufacturing services; familiarity with electronic components, PCB fabrication processes, and reading technical schematics.

Exceptional negotiation, problem-solving, and cross-functional communication.

Strong working knowledge of ERP systems (such as INFOR) and advanced Excel.

Thrive in a fast-paced environment where priorities change quickly.

Able to work within a schedule driven environment; timing and a sense of urgency is a critical function of this role.

Experience with international suppliers and contract manufacturers. Knowledge of global electronics supply chains and component distribution networks.

Knowledge/Experience with ISO-9001, AS-9100, and IPC Requirements.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: BA/BS in Business, Engineering or Supply Chain or equivalent experience

Compensation:
This position offers a salary range of $70,000 to $85,000, depending on the candidate's experience, skill set, and overall qualifications.

*ITAR REQUIREMENTS:
Separate from employment eligibility (Form I-9), U.S. export license requirements may apply before the Company can provide certain non- "U.S. persons" with access to specific technology, software and hardware that may be necessary for a position.
