Full job description

Description

We are looking for a Collections Specialist to join a manufacturing organization in Lisle, Illinois on a Contract basis. This role is focused on managing business-to-business receivables, partnering with customers to resolve overdue balances, and supporting steady cash collection through thoughtful follow-up and account analysis. The position also plays an important part in researching payment issues, coordinating account corrections, and maintaining accurate records that support a strong customer experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Proactively contact customers regarding overdue invoices and work toward timely payment while maintaining strong business relationships.

  • Research account issues that may be preventing payment, document findings clearly, and coordinate resolution of disputes with the appropriate internal teams.

  • Review aging data on a routine basis to identify delinquent balances, prioritize collection efforts, and address small remaining amounts for account cleanup.

  • Prepare and submit credit-related adjustments to correct billing or pricing discrepancies and ensure account details remain accurate.

  • Escalate seriously past-due accounts to outside collection partners or legal resources in alignment with company guidelines.

  • Compile recurring account status updates and collection reports for leadership to support visibility into receivables performance.

  • Confirm that account notes, customer communications, and supporting documentation are complete and accurate for invoice processing activities.

  • Oversee the release of maintenance and repair invoices that require additional review or special handling procedures.

The hourly pay range for this position is $27 to $33/hour. Benefits available to contract/temporary professionals, include medical, vision, dental, and life and disability insurance. Requirements • At least 5 years of commercial collections experience, with a strong background in B2B receivables management.

  • 7+ years of overall relevant experience.

  • Associate degree preferred; comparable work experience will also be considered.

  • Experience in service, maintenance, manufacturing, or a closely related industry is strongly preferred.

  • Working knowledge of SAP is a plus.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, along with strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to investigate deductions, resolve disputes, manage multiple accounts, and drive collection results with a high level of ownership.
