TheSpecial Education Teacherwill maintain required special education paperwork, conduct appropriate meetings, perform individual student assessments, deliver instruction, and prepare instructional materials at Pine Hills Correctional Facility and Montana Women’s Prison. In addition to managing special education paperwork for eligible students, the position may teach subjects including, but not limited to, Adult Basic Education (ABE), life skills classes, cell study, and distance education courses. This position teaches and supervises adult female students, as well as juvenile female and male students. Instruction uses competency‑based methods and is adapted to changing class sizes and varying student abilities, strengths, and learning needs. The Special Education Teacher conducts Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings, advises students on available educational programs, and implements learning activities aligned with the assigned curriculum and state standards. The teacher works individually with students to support academic growth and provide appropriate challenges. The successful candidate must possess appropriate educator licensure through the Montana Office of Public Instruction (OPI) or have the ability to obtain the required licensure. QUALIFICATIONS The knowledge, skills and abilities for this position are typically acquired through a combination of education and experience equivalent to: * Bachelor’s degree in Education * Must be a State of Montana certified secondary teacher * Two years of job-related experience preferred * Experience in a correctional environment is highly desired * Special Education endorsement preferred * Alternative combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
