Job Description
- Lead the design, implementation, administration, and optimization of a large-scale, mission-critical network infrastructure supporting regional emergency dispatch operations.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for Palo Alto Next-Generation Firewalls and Panorama, including configuration, deployment, troubleshooting, and security best practices.
- Design, configure, and support Cisco Catalyst, Cisco IOS, and Cisco Nexus network environments across data center and field locations.
- Manage enterprise routing and switching technologies, including OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, VPNs, IPsec, NAT, QoS, and failover architectures.
- Lead strategic network initiatives focused on improving performance, resiliency, redundancy, and security throughout the CAD network.
- Drive ongoing modernization efforts including Palo Alto firewall deployments, routing optimizations, and network resiliency improvements.
- Monitor network performance and proactively identify, troubleshoot, and resolve complex network issues.
- Coordinate upgrades, patching, break-fix activities, and infrastructure lifecycle management.
- Collaborate with cross functional teams/departments, public safety partners, vendors, and regional stakeholders on network-related projects and technology initiatives.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers, contractors, and support personnel.
- Maintain network architecture documentation, asset inventories, operational procedures, and ticketing systems.
- Support budgeting, capacity planning, audits, security reviews, and long-term infrastructure strategy.
- Provide on-call support and incident response for critical systems operating in a 24/7 public safety environment.
Skills and Requirements

5+ years of experience supporting and engineering complex enterprise network environments.
-
Advanced hands-on experience with Palo Alto Networks Next-Generation Firewalls and Panorama.

Strong experience configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting Cisco IOS and Cisco Nexus environments.

Deep understanding of routing and switching technologies including OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, VPNs, IPsec, NAT, and QoS.

Experience supporting network monitoring, performance analysis, and operational tooling such as Splunk, SolarWinds Orion, ServiceNow, and Jira.

Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to quickly resolve complex network issues in high-availability environments.

Excellent communication, customer service, and stakeholder management skills.

Ability to work effectively in highly structured, fast-paced operational environments with competing priorities and frequent interruptions.

Experience supporting public safety, government, military, healthcare, utilities, or other highly regulated environments.

Experience leading or supervising network engineers, consultants, or contract resources.

Experience supporting 24/7 critical operations environments.

Knowledge of copper and fiber infrastructure deployments and troubleshooting. Industry certifications such as CCNP, Palo Alto Networks

Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE), or similar.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
