Description
We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to manage the accounting and reporting associated with rental assets in Birmingham, Alabama. This role focuses on lease-related transactions, asset lifecycle tracking, and financial oversight for equipment financed through a variety of structured arrangements. The position also plays an important part in period-end close, lender support, and maintaining accurate records that align with accounting standards and internal controls.
Responsibilities:

Maintain comprehensive equipment and asset records that support leasing, financing, and reporting activities across the rental fleet.

Work closely with internal departments and external financing partners to coordinate equipment placed into structured lease or financing arrangements.

Review lease agreements and supporting documentation to determine appropriate accounting treatment under applicable guidance.

Set up new lease arrangements in company systems, ensuring complete documentation, accurate classification, and proper record creation.

Monitor leased equipment activity throughout the full asset lifecycle, including additions, modifications, renewals, terminations, buyouts, transfers, and final disposition.

Reconcile lease schedules, fixed asset subledgers, and general ledger balances on a recurring basis to support accurate financial reporting.

Record depreciation, lease exits, residual settlements, purchase option activity, and other asset-related journal entries as needed.

Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close, while assisting with audit and lender reporting requests.

Evaluate rental asset performance and profitability trends and recommend process improvements that strengthen lease tracking, reporting accuracy, and internal controls.
Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
-
At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience in roles with increasing responsibility.

Hands-on background in lease accounting, fixed assets, and equipment-intensive or rental-focused business environments.

Strong understanding of ASC 842, standard fixed asset accounting, and structured equipment financing arrangements, including synthetic leases.

Experience supporting equipment financing, lease administration, or asset-based lending processes.

Advanced Excel skills with the ability to perform detailed analysis, reconciliations, and documentation.

Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills with a dependable and solutions-focused approach.
