We're seeking a Utility Design Lead to join our growing transportation team in Bellevue, Washington. In this role, you'll play a key part in delivering complex highway, roadway, and municipal infrastructure projects while having opportunities to grow into increasing levels of technical and project leadership by supporting utility coordination, relocation planning, and design efforts from project development through delivery.
Working alongside multidisciplinary teams of engineers, planners, surveyors, and project managers, you'll help solve challenging utility conflicts, foster strong relationships with utility owners and stakeholders, and contribute to some of the region's most impactful transportation improvements.
What You'll Do
As a Utility Design Lead, you will:

Support the growth of Jacobs' utility coordination and utility design capabilities across the Pacific Northwest.

Lead utility coordination and utility relocation efforts on transportation infrastructure projects.

Build and maintain strong partnerships with utility owners, agencies, municipalities, and project stakeholders.

Coordinate utility investigations, conflict analysis, and relocation strategies to support project delivery.

Facilitate and lead utility coordination meetings with utility providers, clients, contractors, survey teams, and design disciplines.

Manage utility locate requests and verify utility mapping and field data.

Maintain and update utility base mapping and design information within project CAD environments.

Collaborate closely with transportation, drainage, structural, and roadway design teams to ensure seamless project execution.

Support compliance with WSDOT, municipal, and utility owner requirements.

Exercise sound engineering judgment and provide recommendations for utility solutions on complex transportation projects.

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.

4+ years of experience leading or supporting utility coordination and utility relocation design for public transportation projects.

Experience participating in and/or facilitating meetings with utility owners, agencies, consultants, contractors, surveyors, and multidisciplinary project teams.

Familiarity with design platforms such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, InRoads, and/or OpenRoads Designer.

Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and deliver high-quality technical work.
Ideally, You'll Also Have

Experience delivering transportation or municipal infrastructure projects within Washington State.

Professional Engineer (PE) license in Washington or ability to obtain through reciprocity.

Familiarity with WSDOT utility requirements, municipal utility policies, and utility permitting processes.

Experience coordinating utility relocations on complex highway or roadway improvement projects.
