Summary:

IDOC is recruiting for a full-time Clinician to be filled at the new Pocatello Community Reentry Center (PCRC) located in Pocatello ID! Clinicians with the Idaho Department of Correction work inside correctional institutions/prisons and Probation and Parole District Offices around the state. The Clinician performs comprehensive mental health assessments, program assignments, and treatment referrals while developing individualized treatment plans and delivering therapeutic interventions. They collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external providers to ensure integrated care, present clinical findings, facilitate therapeutic groups, and evaluate treatment outcomes. Additional responsibilities include advocacy for residents’ mental health needs, and participation in research.

Responsibilities:

• Apply clinical skills to assess resident mental health needs; develop and implement a treatment plan and therapeutic recommendations.

• Prepares findings, diagnostic impressions, diagnosis, and recommendations for Idaho Parole Board as directed/needed.

• Performs comprehensive suicide risk assessments and crisis intervention, systematically evaluating residents for suicidal ideation and underlying mental health concerns.

• Provide direct clinical oversight CRC DARS/CCM and other behavioral health team members as assigned.

• Advocates for IDOC residents’ mental health needs.

• Provides consultation regarding residents' mental health to CRC staff / managers on a case-by-case basis; regularly attend weekly TCM's to address resident care.

• Determine client's needs for additional services and referral to behavioral health services, including Substance Use Co-occurring disorders.

• Coordinates mental health services with other IDOC providers to ensure integrated and effective care.

• Facilitates psychoeducational and clinical groups to IDOC residents.

• May participate in research projects.

• Evaluates treatment effectiveness and outcomes.

• Other duties as assigned by overseeing clinical supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications: Your resume needs to clearly articulate how your skills, education and experience meet the qualifications below-

• A master's degree (or higher) in a direct clinical practice Human Services field is required for this position. (Master's degree in social work, psychology, marriage and family counseling, marriage and family therapy, psychosocial rehabilitation counseling, psychiatric nursing, or very closely related field of study.)

• Good knowledge of drug & alcohol treatment course work. Typically gained by a minor in addiction studies, or graduate certificate.

• Experience to include performing client assessments and case management; developing and implementing treatment plans; and monitoring client behaviors. Typically gained by at least 3 credits with in the 12 core functions (screening/assessment or case management) or closely related field OR at least 6 months of full-time work experience in a behavioral health clinic/or substance use disorder program providing client with screening and assessment tools.

• Willing to work non-traditional hours (evening hours up to 10 p.m. and/or weekends) in a correctional facility and/or probation and parole district office providing program facilitation and case management services to individuals under IDOC jurisdiction.

Specialty Qualifications:

• Must possess a current Idaho license as a Licensed Master's Social Worker, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Professional Counselor or Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor or be eligible within 90 days from the date of hire.

Desirable Qualifications:

• Some experience in working with justice involved individuals.

• Some knowledge of screening/assessing with ASAM criteria. Typically gained by at least 3 credits with in the 12 core functions or closely related field OR at least 6 months of full-time work experience in a behavioral health clinic/or substance use disorder program providing client with screening and assessment tools.

• Some knowledge of supervisor practices. Typically gained through completion of college coursework or workshops (of at least one day) specifically covering supervisory practices; OR supervisory or team leader experience that formally involved giving work assignments, providing direction to employees, and monitoring/evaluating the work of others.

• Preferred candidates will have at least one (1) year of experience providing clinical oversight of staff and treatment programs.
