About the Role Carbon is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join our team of talented engineers in our Santa Clara, CA office. The ideal candidate will develop, improve, and maintain manufacturing processes for Carbon’s 3D printer systems and large accessories, providing hands-on support to the production line and helping drive new process development across the organization.

This role will be based in our Thomas Rd, Santa Clara facility. This role is onsite 5 days a week, Monday - Friday. This role is not eligible for relocation.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in, maintain and improve manufacturing operations of our complex electromechanical and optical assemblies from development phase through ongoing production.

  • Provide day-to-day support to the production line, including troubleshooting line-down situations and driving root cause investigation through to resolution.

  • Develop new processes to improve efficiency and maintain existing processes across the line.

  • Design and build test fixtures and tooling to support manufacturing and testing optimization.

  • Program, troubleshoot, and maintain servers and PCAs.

  • Create, maintain, and improve Work Instructions and other relevant manufacturing documentation.

  • Participate in new process/product development activities and drive collaboration across cross functional teams (Design, Systems, Production, Quality, Supply Chain)

  • Train technicians and engineers, in-house and at supplier sites, on new and existing processes.

  • Organize manufacturing workflows and ensure that manufacturing procedures follow safety and environmental regulations.

Requirements:

  • B.S./M.S. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

  • 5+ years of work experience in manufacturing environments (not including internships) with demonstrated ability to function in a fast-paced environment and adjust/manage workload based upon changing priorities.

  • Demonstrated ability using CAD tools to design fixtures/tools.

  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with complex electromechanical, optical, and pneumatic assemblies.

  • Demonstrated ability resolving production line down issues and non-conformances using standard root cause analysis techniques.

  • Demonstrated ability to create technical documentation such as SOPs and WIs.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience troubleshooting equipment containing UV lasers, high-end optical systems, and complex electromechanical assemblies.

  • Experience in additive manufacturing or 3D printing production environments.

  • Working knowledge of manufacturing systems and software is a plus.

At Carbon, we look at the person holistically and carefully consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation. The compensation bracket for this position is $137,600 - $206,400 per year. In order to maintain equitable internal pay practices, we aim to hire new employees near the midpoint of $172,000 taking into account your experience, work location, certifications, and the unique skills you bring to the role.
