Job Description
We are seeking a Power Supply Engineer to design and develop advanced power electronics hardware for aerospace, military vehicle, and space-based applications. This individual will be responsible for power architecture development, power conversion design, circuit design, EMI/EMC compliance, testing, and system integration in high-reliability environments. The engineer will support hardware development from concept through verification, working closely with cross-functional engineering teams to develop power solutions that meet performance, reliability, size, weight, and environmental requirements. This position requires hands-on laboratory experience, strong power electronics expertise, and the ability to support designs operating within military and aerospace standards. Senior-level candidates may provide technical leadership and mentor junior engineers. Responsibilities: Design power electronics hardware and power conversion systems Develop electrical schematics and power architectures Design custom power supplies and voltage rail solutions Perform circuit analysis, simulation, and component selection Balance performance, efficiency, size, weight, and reliability requirements Design and evaluate custom magnetic components Conduct EMI/EMC analysis and mitigation activities Perform laboratory testing and hardware troubleshooting Utilize oscilloscopes, waveform generators, and related test equipment Support design verification and qualification testing Ensure compliance with military and aerospace electrical standards Collaborate with systems, software, mechanical, manufacturing, and test engineering teams Lead technical reviews and design reviews Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance
Skills and Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related engineering discipline Level 4: 6+ years of relevant experience Level 5: 9+ years of relevant experience Master's degree may substitute for 2 years of experience
Power electronics design experience Power conversion design experience Circuit design and schematic development experience Experience with EMI/EMC principles and mitigation techniques Experience working with military electrical standards including one or more of: MIL-STD-461 MIL-STD-704 MIL-STD-1275 MIL-STD-1399 Strong troubleshooting and laboratory testing experience Experience using oscilloscopes and waveform generators Experience developing hardware for aerospace, defense, military vehicle, aircraft, or other high-reliability applications Ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance Ability to work onsite on a 9/80 schedule Custom magnetics design Transformer design Inductor design Non-standard voltage rail design Power distribution architecture experience Aircraft power systems experience Satellite or Low Earth Orbit (LEO) experience Payload electronics experience Radiation-hardened or radiation-tolerant electronics experience
