Office of Neighborhood Safety Data Analyst

Job Duties

The Office of Neighborhood Safety is currently hiring an experienced research analyst to join our team. The Office of Neighborhood Safety Data Analyst position is responsible for advanced level research and collection of department and enterprise related data, and the development of an analytic approach for tracking progress, outcome measures, and strategy implementation for the Office of Neighborhood Safety (ONS) and enterprise-wide projects being led by the ONS.

Here’s what you can expect to do:

Improve the use of criminal justice, human services, public health, and administrative approaches and data toward the City’s Community First Public Safety framework.

Transform data into quantitative and qualitative reports, public dashboard information, geospatial analytics, data visualization, storytelling, research, and policy reviews that inform ONS’s and partner agency planning and operations.

Make recommendations based on data research and may serve in the capacity of a public information liaison based on their work products.

Research policy, regulations, and laws and track changes over time at all levels of government and present recommendations and/or findings regarding impact to operations to leadership.

Assist in coordination and collaboration with other intra-agency departments to implement data quality improvement strategies.

Minimum Education Required

A Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Urban Planning, Economics, Political Science, Information Technology, Criminology, Data Sciences, Mathematics, Geography, Sociology, Earth Sciences, Natural Resources and Design or related field. Four years of experience designing data collection instruments for projects, programs, and policies; conducting research; and collecting, compiling, and analyzing data.

A combination of education and experience to equal eight (8) years or more can be used to qualify for the position.

Four years of vacancy related experience can be substituted for a Bachelor's Degree. Vacancy-related experience includes experience in designing data collection instruments for projects, programs, and policies; conducting research; and collecting, compiling, and analyzing data.
