Description

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Build Meaningful Connections While Making a Difference

Pay: $31.50/hour Schedule: Per Diem, All Shifts

Organization: The Arc of Litchfield County, Inc. (LARC)

Rediscover the Joy of Nursing

Imagine being part of a team where your care truly transforms lives — not in a rushed clinical environment, but in a supportive community where you can connect 1:1 with the people you serve. At LARC, you’ll have the opportunity to slow down, build meaningful relationships, and bring your skills to a place where every interaction matters.

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you’ll provide compassionate, individualized care to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) in home and community-based settings. You’ll work alongside a dedicated team that values empathy, respect, and empowerment — all while enjoying a more balanced, fulfilling pace.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide exceptional nursing care and oversight by implementing health care plans, charting vital signs, and administering medications as prescribed by physicians.

  • Support individuals in their daily routines, offering personal care and health guidance as outlined in each Individual Support Plan (ISP).

  • Build long-term, trusting relationships with the individuals you support and their families.

  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, guardians, and team members to ensure holistic, person-centered care.

  • Accompany individuals on community outings — enjoy activities like picnics, movies, bowling, or dining out as part of LARC’s vision of “community for all.”

This is more than nursing — it’s caring with purpose, forming bonds that enrich lives, including your own.

Why You’ll Love Working at LARC

  • Team Culture: Join a community of professionals who believe in dignity, respect, and inclusion for all.

Requirements and Responsibilities

What You’ll Bring

  • A current, active Connecticut LPN license.

  • A valid Connecticut driver’s license with a clean driving record.

  • CPR & First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain — training provided).

  • Compassion, patience, and a commitment to person-centered care.

  • The ability to lift and support individuals with limited mobility when needed.

  • (Preferred) Experience working with the Department of Developmental Services (DDS) nursing policies and procedures — training provided if needed.

Who Thrives in This Role

This role is ideal for nurses who:

  • Value connection and continuity of care.

  • Want to make a difference in the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

  • Appreciate a balanced environment where professional excellence meets genuine human connection.

Ready to Love What You Do Again?

Join LARC, where compassion meets community and where you can bring your nursing expertise to a place that feels like home. Rediscover why you became a nurse — to care, connect, and create lasting impact.

LARC is an Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer and a drug-free workplace. Testing for illegal substances is a pre-employment requirement.
