Job Summary

Supervises the construction, installation, alteration, and repair of sheetmetal and roofing projects in accordance with blueprints, drawings, and work orders; inspects roofs; and makes recommendations for replacements.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervises, plans, organizes, and controls sheetmetal and roofing activities to include the construction, installations, alteration, or repair of sheetmetal or roofing products.

  • Assists the Major Projects Coordinator and other Project Coordinators with inspections, reviewing and estimating of new roofs and re-roofing projects. Meets with Architects and Engineers to plan and design new roofs and re-roof projects.

  • Determines type, gauge, and amount of material required for performance of work. Supervises and participates in shingle, rolled, built-up, and clay tile roofing repairs. Performs fabrication of local manufactured items required for support of other trades.

  • Coordinates and participates in the setting up and operating of equipment such as power saws, drill presses, hand and power shears, pan and box brakes, lock-formers, cleat benders, and rollers to cut, punch, thread, and form sheetmetal.

  • Assembles ducts, hoods, and other sheetmetal products; solders and bolts connections; applies insulation as required; and inspects, assembles, and installs for conformance with specifications.

  • Performs operational checks of ducts and other sheetmetal installations to determine corrective action to be taken to include maintenance and repair.

  • Follows a predetermined schedule of preventive maintenance. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in a timely, fair, and objective manner.
