Pay or shift range: $150,000 USD to $200,000 USD

Summary:The Director, Total Rewards provides strategic and hands-on leadership for the organization’s compensation, benefits, payroll, and People Systems functions. As a key member of the HR Leadership Team, this leader translates enterprise strategy into effective programs and disciplined execution, builds trusted cross-functional partnerships, develops high-performing teams, and delivers competitive Total Rewards programs, reliable payroll operations, and scalable People Systems that support organizational growth and a positive employee experience.

Summary:The Director, Total Rewards provides strategic and hands-on leadership for the organization’s compensation, benefits, payroll, and People Systems functions. As a key member of the HR Leadership Team, this leader translates enterprise strategy into effective programs and disciplined execution, builds trusted cross-functional partnerships, develops high-performing teams, and delivers competitive Total Rewards programs, reliable payroll operations, and scalable People Systems that support organizational growth and a positive employee experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a Total Rewards strategy aligned with business growth, workforce needs, talent priorities, and employee engagement.• Lead compensation philosophy, job architecture, salary structures, market benchmarking, pay equity analyses, and enterprise-wide rewards programs.• Collaborate with FP&A and Accounting on annual compensation planning, merit budgeting, incentive programs, and pay-for-performance processes, including analysis and recommendations for leadership; lead annual plan review and redesign. • Ensure governance, documentation, controls, eligibility rules, approvals, calculations, and payment validation for commission and incentive plans.• Lead benefits strategy, plan design, cost modeling, renewals, enrollment, and employee communications across health, welfare, retirement, and other benefit programs. Quantify the financial and workforce impact of proposed changes and identify opportunities for savings, risk reduction, and return on investment.• Evaluate benefit utilization, employee value, market competitiveness, and cost-management opportunities while supporting the Employee Benefits Committee.• Provide strategic oversight of multi-state payroll operations, controls, tax compliance, audits, and service delivery to ensure accurate, timely, efficient, and scalable processing.• Lead People Systems enhancements, user adoption, self-service capabilities, automation, and simplified employee and manager workflows.• Establish a reliable source of truth for employee, compensation, benefits, and payroll data; develop leadership dashboards and workforce analytics that enable data-informed decisions.• Prepare executive- and Board-level analyses, recommendations, and presentations on compensation, incentive outcomes, benefits strategy, pay equity, workforce investments, and related risks.

Qualifications:To perform this job successfully, this individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required.• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field.• 10+ years of progressive experience across Total Rewards, compensation, benefits, payroll, or related disciplines.• 5+ years of people leadership experience, including building teams, setting service standards, and developing talent.• Demonstrated success leading compensation strategy and enterprise-wide rewards programs in a medium-to-large organization.• Experience overseeing multi-state payroll processing, governance, controls, tax compliance, and payroll systems.• Experience leading benefits strategy, plan design, renewals, regulatory compliance, and vendor or broker relationships.• Strong analytical, financial modeling, workforce analytics, and presentation capabilities.• Strong knowledge of multi-state wage-and-hour, payroll tax, ERISA, ACA, retirement-plan, and benefits requirements.• Ability to translate complex data into practical recommendations and lead cross-functional initiatives.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to outdoor changing weather conditions and well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation. The employee is periodically exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles, extreme cold and heat (non-weather), vibration, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
